Sport 1100 ie Staintune Crossover
« on: March 25, 2020, 07:02:37 PM »
Rebuilding my Sport 1100 ie...

It has been off the road for 18 years and I am struggling with my memory how it all goes back together...

Could anyone give me a photo of their Staintune crossover installed with the brackets supporting it to the frame please.

Greg

Not a bite, not a whisper, yet. There's none left locally to me that I'm aware of, so can't help there. Have you tried the V11 Lemans forum?

Would a pic of a crossover [I don't think it's a Staintune] on a Centauro help at all?

I haven't got a Staintune crossover but my Sport 1100ie has the Siamesed twin pipe setup (I hope nobody jumps on me and gives me dog's abuse for saying Siamese twin, that's just what I know them as)

If you post a pic of the pieces I (and others) can see what it looks like then if it does resemble mine (or any others) somebody might post up some pictures

Try contacting Blackcat I think he had a Staintune system at one point

I know what you mean John.
We have come a long way, the term you refer to does seem just a LITTLE bit crass these days when you really analyse it..

Well, I, for one, know EXACTLY what he's talking about - it's a word picture.

I'll ask around. Staintune"s unlikely to be any help, I heard I heard they had someone in some years back, who, in the name of efficiency, scrapped their old jigs, and now they seem to have gone out backwards.

I'm not aware of Staintune offering an 1100 Sport crossover.  They did offer a complete exhaust system, for the 1100 Sport etc.

Stucchi once offered a highly polished stainless crossover with siamesed pipes that's finished nicer than most of the other crossovers.  Maybe that's the source of confusion.  This link contains some not so clear photos of a Stucchi crossover installed on a Centauro: http://www.centauro-owners.com/articles/palma/index.html

If anyone is interested I have a digitised version of Staintune's 2009 Pricelist - it includes the mufflers plus header systems (complete only) for the Daytona, 1100 Sport & Centauro (these were then marked "made to order").

I also have on the shelf a couple of the stock colostomy bags from the Sporti. Ugly things, but supposed to be effective.

Staintune is currently fabrication a set of mufflers for one of my 1997 1100 Sport's. I asked them if they still had the crossover's hardware brackets and the rubber mounting bushings available, which they don't. They also don't have the tooling anymore to fabricate the crossover or the header pipes. The cost for a set of Daytona / 1100 Sport stainless steel mufflers with shipping to the US is US $1,100.00

Staintune fabricated a "One Off" carbon wrapped set of mufflers for one of my 1997 1100 Sport, and I was hoping that they could fabricate me a duplicate set of those mufflers, but they stopped fabricating carbon wrapped muffler, so they only have Stainless mufflers now available.

I have pictures of the mounting hardware and the actual way to mount the Staintune crossover on a 1100 Sport shown below. I am planning on replacing the non-available Staintune rubber bushings with automotive urethane suspension bushings.

Hope this helps,

Andy

This is a picture that I had send to Staintune asking them of the availability of the crossover's rubber mounting bushings. Some of my bikes with Staintune exhaust systems installed use one rubber grommet, while others use two.

Heh Andy these rubber mounts are usually available from most hardware stores, or via the Interweb

I know them as Vibro mounts and they come in all shapes and sizes.

Magni uses them a fair bit on various models and when I was doing some refurbishing I had to find replacements

Anyway looks llike you've come to the rescue and sorted Grog.

My crossover looks like it's a Mistral

I know you've fixed it, but I put out the word, and these came back - from Staintunes on a Sporti.
