Bellagio Cafe Conversion
« on: April 15, 2020, 08:15:35 PM »
Thought I'd post a pic of my completed Bellagio Cafe Conversion. I scored a cheap NOS V7 Racer metal tank from eBay. Couldn't believe my luck. The guys at Motociclo here in Sydney did a fantastic job fitting the tank and seat to make it fit just right. Still want to tweak a few things but couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

Neat I considered doing this quiet a few years ago when I rode the Bellagio but couldn't quiet get/justify the entry price at the time. I also had gradiose plans of puttin a propper USD sports bike fron end on it with the bigger better brakes and reducing the front wheel to 17inch so you could get lots of tyres for it.

The tank looks much better than the original "flaccid whale penis".

That same person reckoned the Bellagio engine was a real screamer and a most under rated engine.

That's a fine looking machine you have there. :thumb:

This is my favourite Guzzi modification. I would have one myself if I hadn't already reached the spousal mandated motorcycle limit.

Looking good, Bob. Enjoy.

This looks really nice! I would consider adding fork boots next time you need to service the front end or change your seals?

Thanks for the kind words all. I had to sell my two bikes to make this one happen. Was worried I was going to regret my decision but now that it's done it has all been worth it. Getting used to the new feel of the bike. I find I'm understerring a bit but will get used to it. It's definitely a more comfortable riding position. I was thinking of putting fork boots on. I put them on my old V7 Cafe Classic and like how they looked.

     Very nice looking bike  :thumb:

That chrome tank just "pops", looks like it was made for it.

I agree, next time you've got the front end apart, black gaiters would make it pop even more.

     Well done

Very tastefully done IMO.
Would you consider just a little more structure behind the seat for visual balance ? I think it’s the most common area of cafe modification that lets the styling down a bit, but yours looks darn nice still.

Yep La Perouse. Huzo, the original plan was to fit a rear guard but I haven't found anything yet that fits well. I'm used to it how it is now and quite like it. I think I'll remove the low number plate holder. It came with the bike but I'm not sure I like it. I've also removed the pillion pegs. It opens up the view of the CARC reaction rod which is a beautiful billet anodised piece from Officcine Rossopuro in Italy. I also love how the Mistral exhaust looks with the beautiful rear wheel (I'll post a pic later). Yes Nicole is an angel     John has been a mate of mine for over 35 years. We used to play in bands together in a past life. You really couldn't meet nicer people.

Well I guess they wouldn't park it at the only tiny itty bitty piece of attempted French colonisation on this continent

So a few more pics and info. I saw a few Bellagio conversions on YouTube. They all packed up the tank and seat to make it fit. Luke at Motociclo welded some tabs to the frame to keep the tank down tight and low and made a new bracket for the seat lock. I was tossing up between clip ons or risers. I wanted to keep the screen. The clip ons didn't work with the screen so the decision was made for me. I'm happy with the result as I think looks good and it's better on my wrists. The risers are LSL made for a Yamaha XJR. The mirrors are folding Napoleon mirrors. I had them on my Café Classic. The rear indicators are fixed to a bracket for a Hepco Becker rack. I was going to leave the rack on permanently but didn't like the look of it. It's four bolts to attach when I do longer trips. The exhaust is a single can Mistral. I love how it looks with the rear wheel. I've added a few red touches to the bike to break up the black and chrome - levers, plug caps, foot pegs, etc and a beautiful billet anodised CARC reaction rod from Officcine Rossopuro. The bike rides more or less the same. It's a fair bit lighter. I'm feeling a bit of understeer in tight bends but I'll get used to that. The new seat is more comfortable. The old seat was great for short trips but it holds you in the one position so I got sore knees after awhile. I'm super happy with how it turned out. John and Luke at Motociclo did an amazing job.

Beautiful bike!  Very well done.  I second moving the fork tubes up in the clamps for sharper steering.  It steepens the steering angle and puts more weight on the front wheel.   :thumb:

I removed the number plate holder and put on some aluminium pegs. I can't think of anything else to waste my money on so I think that's it.
