Well I'm not too happy with the vendor, Sportsman Guide.  I just see they charged me $50 today on my paypal account to become a member.  I don't recall ever signing up for it.  It seems like a scam since it came a month after purchase.  Apparently paypal won't help but they'll put a stop to future payments to SG.

I can only guess I checked the wrong box and missed the fine print.

I'll let the folks here know so that you might get a chance to prevent them from scamming you too.

Of course, you can't talk to a human on the phone at paypal or SG since they are closed due to the virus.  It makes me wonder how secure paypal is.  I might call the credit card company to stop payment.  $50, not enough to make a deal over but enough to piss me off.

I've related what happened to me accurately.  I wasn't the only one here that made the same "mistake".  I also mentioned that I got a refund.  I explained my displeasure with SG and Paypal.  So I guess you could say I was ripping two legitimate companies.

Now, despite getting a refund, I haven't changed my mind.  I think it was deliberately sneaky by the fact that I'd been charged 30 days after the fact without additional approval on my part.  I hate to be blindsided.  So I have to wonder how many folks just lost $50 and didn't notice or didn't want the hassle to get it back?

You may not like my opinion but the facts are facts.  And again, I'm not buying anything else from SG and will use Paypal as a last resort.   

And hopefully, if there are even more here than the few here that mentioned it, they too might have the knowledge to get a refund.  That's the advantage posting this.

The facts are the site has two prices listed on every item.   One is their regular price and the other is for members, which entitles you to free shipping on items over $49 and lower prices on all items.  Upon checkout, you are given the option to take advantage of the member prices with a free 30-day trial of their membership program.  If you did not read that then it's your fault.  Did you think you were getting the lower 'members' price for nothing?  The reason you got billed 30-days after your purchase was because you failed to cancel the 30-day trial. Your bad both ways.  There is nothing shady or deceptive about their policy and in fact I suspect a lot of guys sign up for the 30-day trial to get free shipping and lower price then cancel. 

I have no affiliation with this company but as a business owner who works his ass off trying to provide good customer service it fries me when some disgruntled customer jumps on the internet and in many cases accuses the company of running a scam.  When the reality is this was YOUR error or oversite and you should have just called the company as you did, settle the issue and let it go, as opposed to claiming on here and who knows what other sites that SPORTSMAN is running a scam!

I don’t have a dog in the fight but can offer this on SG’s behalf. I have been ordering from them for 25 years and never had a bad experience. I have been a member for most of those years however recently let that expire because if one does not order a lot of stuff it’s probably not worth the cost. Also I figured out that most of the stuff there can be purchased from Walley World cheaper. That being said the military stuff is neat sometimes, like that great looking motorcycle jacket🤣🤣😂😂

I totally admitted that I must've checked the wrong box in my first post.  I wasn't the only one here that did the same thing.  And anyone else that made the same "mistake" that I did will now have info about it right here.  So my post does serve more than myself.

I see no reason to be charged 30 days later unless they were being sneaky.  I've presented both sides of the story.  And remember, I am also citing both Paypal along with SG.  As I said before, I am not happy with either but I'll give SG credit for refunding the amount promptly-  getting charges I don't expect, not so much.

I am sure that as hard as you work that you certainly treat your customers with the utmost of respect.
