Well I got the bevel box beck from the “mechanics” and everything seems pretty well done in the main. I certainly could not have done any differently.
I asked the guy to make sure the mechanics checked for any signs as to why the first seal let go so early and not just jam another one up it’s blurter and hope for the best.
When I got there, the report was that the leaking one came out “very, very, easily...”
The guy who did the job says it looked like the shagged one was leaking from the outer perimeter, sounds like BS to me but I wasn’t there, anyway he said the new one is a “much better fit”, so I’m cautiously optimistic.

Well, I got the diarrhea too! After 160 miles of pouring rain on the Blue Ridge Pky. last week I was greeted with an oil splattered rear tire too. My first thought was just like the V7 it got rain in it and blew it out the vent. Well, it does have water in it but not enough to reach the level plug so I suspect a seal-like yours. I called the dealer and told him and said it will be a month to get it up to him and I would change to fresh oil and see what happens.

There really isn’t much involved.
Maybe, do the seal yourself and if it works then fine.. If it buggers up as well, then whiz it into them then.

any chance you wrote down the # stamped on the seal. I might just go to the local bearing supply store if they have one. I assume it's just pop out and in like the big one on the California and Ev serries. Good excuse to seal the spokes.

Seal size
55 x 40 x 7
A dime a dozen at my good supplier, $11.00
But I don’t know if there are various grades of material. Roper says Viton and there is another material which name I cannot recall.

Viton is the go to in industrial applications and covers a wide range of applications. It would be my choice.

Oil on the rim more likely the large 75x95x10 has gone leaking between bevel box and cush drive. Use Viton lip seals  as per factory they handle high temps better .Not worth going cheap if you have the crown gear off to replace seal .

for certain the big one facing the wheel. I assume it's a double lip?

Jake's younger brother is a better musician.  Hard to believe.  Pretty cool.  He's played for the Queen of England.

Does anybody know if this is the same setup as a V7? I understand you need a special tool and it's not a simple job like on the EV and California serries.

I had no idea how such an innocent title could take on such a skewed meaning...
