Going going gone, to the highest bidder.
« on: May 17, 2020, 07:48:37 AM »
As I watched the ole gal go up the driveway yesterday in the back of a trailer the guzzi wheels in my mind was turning, I want to replace it with another one, ASAP.
Right now I’m talking to a guy one state over about an 03 EV that he bought new and it has less than 4K miles, full dresser with the good fairing (can’t remember the brand name). Guy says it has some cosmetic damage where he has dropped it but didn’t elaborate. I’m trying to get him to call me now, why people don’t want yo talk anymore beats the heck out of me!
If anyone knows if a good deal on any guzzi, PM me and I’ll give you my number. Thanks

Dan

I'm in the same boat. I sold a bike last weekend and have actually been in the market for something else for a couple months. In fact I had another bike lined up 6 weeks ago but the seller misplaced the title and is/was trying to get a replacement. This ended up being a good thing. While at the time the bike seemed like a good deal in the following weeks more of the same or better deals have been popping up regularly.

Now that I have cash in hand plus other bikes to ride  I'm not in a hurry and no longer interested in finding something ASAP.  I'm not looking for a good deal I'm biding my time and waiting for the exceptional deal.

Good lucking finding a bike that scratches the itch!

That’s right, we are in a position  to look for that perfect buy and find a bike at the bottom dollar. However the 03 I’m looking at now may be that bike. Now the only issue is what exactly is “ Cosmetic damage“ he said the bike got from two droppings.
By the way I’m one of the lucky guzzi sellers. I bought the 1400 3 years ago for 7800.00 snd sold if for 7800.00, I did knock off 100 bucks for their traveling gas and took off 50 more to buy him and his buddies lunch.

Dan, I put new tires on your old California Vintage and just went on my longest trip to Virginia. It is running great with lots of power no pinging and smooth idle....just a great motorcycle. I'm convinced a 1100 California can be a great motorcycle, and some of them can be bought with short money....also dig that Honda....

I mistook "I want to replace it with another one, ASAP" as a buyer with money burning a hole in their pocket.

Lol, I want to replace ASAP doesn’t mean I’m going to pounce on the first one that I look at. I’m inline with your thought process 👍

We’ll sorted out as well.

Dan, if you ever considered a V10 Centauro, Jim’s is very nice. I had a British Racing Green Centauro for a while that was a LOT of fun. After installing the Creedon chip and a Stucchi crossover it ran great. Both pieces thankfully came with the bike from the seller.

Thanks for the tips on bikes guys as I do check them out when brought to my attention. Keep in mind I’m looking mostly at the older models from carb to the earlier FI models with simpler more reliable ECU systems. I would like to stay in the range of no more than 4K unless it’s the steal of the week type.

Fast sale! Enjoy the hunt....

What is it you are looking for? You've mentioned EV's, but concerned with age.  If you want a bike that has some weight and mass for touring, but still light and nimble, and not too old, and want to stay away from most of the gizmos, why not a CalVin? I think thats the last year for a Tonti.

I'll say I'm loving the Convert, cant speak to reliability yet, but it starts fast, idles runs and rides fantastic. Has only 41-42k miles.

I've seen several EV' and CalVin bikes that make me drool.

Wait for the right Calvin to come along.  As you know, when sorted they are the absolute best if the Cali 1100's.

They're out there.

Thanks for the input BD. I had an 07 Calvin and yes it was a great bike. The only issue I had with it and the main reason I let it go was I could never get comfortable with the seating position. The floorboards were simple to high and kept my back in at strain at all times.
I also had an 04 EV which I would also reconsider as a second bike in the stall. Thanks for your input Sir.

I will never sell my 1994 California 1100. It is carbureted , nikasil cylinders , electronic ignition, adjustable dampening forks, rebuildable adjustable gas shocks, ( and mine don’t leak , bitubo still makes the same shock except milled from a solid billet.) With that great bomb proof motor and drive train. Need I say more. Yes the saddle does suck, I bought an extra seat, carved it up the way I wanted to be comfortable. Ugly but I don’t care. The original seat is being sent to Neds in Riverside IA, for a Neds Comfort Seat. I wish it had tubeless wheels and tyres. I have grown to like the linked breaking system. I can and have loaded it up like pack mule or take the luggage off and Cruze on into the city to any of the local bike nights. People
look at it and sometimes photograph it. I know every bike is not perfect and has it’s short comings, but in my world this one has few.

NCDan - ever considered a Quota?  Very comfortable, lots of leg room.  Sorting out the wind flow is probably the biggest challenge, stock there is a lot of wind noise over 55mph.

Gappy,

"Breaking system" and "Braking system" are two quite different things.  I believe you want the latter.
