Checking 98EV TPS

 Is their a tutorial on how to check and set the TPS for a 98 EV? I know you check the voltage but where are you checking it from? I can't find anything specific.

I'll have to dig out the details and post a little later.  I disassemble the cover from the master gang plug on the P8 CPU.  Unplug the gang connector, remove Phillips screw at the end, slide the cover off, carful to catch and retain the plastic slide guides, search for numbers on the various connections.  I then use 'T-Pins' to probe into two of the wires.  Set up volt meter and turn key to ON but not start.  Meter reads millivolts.  With all linkages disconnected, the base installation reading should be 150mV.  Reconnect the linkage, adjust for balance and idle, TPS should now read about 385mV.  Here are some old files and not quite so good pictures:











OR, forget all that and install GuzziDiag on an old laptop and get the data read-out that way.

Edit: the instructions posted by OP is noting to set TPS 486-528mv after baseline setting.
This, I think, is true for later models.
 However like pehayes mentions on the 98 it should be in the 385mv ballpark.

The later model EV, the Jackal, and I believe all Bassa's, use the 15M ECU. The 98 EV uses the P8 ECU, (large box under the rear seat).
Setting the TPS is almost identical, except the voltage. The P8 is set to 2.1 degrees, or about 365 - 385 mv. The 15M is set to 3.6 degrees, or about 524 mv.
Also, the idle air screws on the P8 are usually 1 turn out, and on the 15M 1/2 turn out.

Check the fitment, but one of these (or something similar) makes it easier to check the TPS. I struggled to get straight pins to make contact thru the connector.

I bought one of those adapters, well worth it in my opinion. I bought it direct, I thought I paid about $15?

The instructions by Jeff B is what I use. Easy to follow. I printed that out. I do also have the Efiman as well.
