Craigslist Convert in DFW

Looks like an original owner bike with 21k miles.  Stored for last 20 years.  Decent price. Just popped up today.

Edit: 12 hours later and the post has been "Deleted by the author".  With the $1000 price tag, I imagine it is already sold.

Stout, heavy weight looking saddlebag light rails. Trailer hitch equipped, that rigs hauled some tonnage in its day.

I think it depends on the type of restoration. When I got my G5 is was in worst shape than that, but I got it up and running at first with only a few hundred bucks. But that's it; it was good enough for the just the short rides around town, but didn't trust it for more than that. Then I did the restoration, which excluded the engine other than hoses, electrical and carb tune-up stuff. For the frame and body I seeked as many NOS part I could find and went through everything with a fine comb. That is when it really added up. So if just tires, oil, rubber parts and some bearings, then it would make a lot of sense and would still be a bargain I think. The full restoration then would be for the passionate type for the bike and in that case then the value/expense gets weighed against satisfaction more than logic, at least that is what I think. The California II in convert form is very elegant when all done up right and I don't think they are very common, so I still think for those seeking that model this would still be a good buy
