Still trying to figure out the logistics of coming for the National.  It was going to be the WI State then the National but because of WI's changes, looks like National then NM.   :thumb:

That’s fantastic.  I’ll try to attend.  I’ve said that for like 5 years now, but maybe 2020 is the charm !

I wonder how they are working out the logistics of the thing?

The last I heard mass gatherings were banned in New Mexico.

In the past food has been a buffet line and packed picnic tables.  Most restaurants won't do buffet lines any more. Only plated meals.  Even if they did a buffet, a line with proper distancing would be 600' long.  Not enough picnic tables to seat around 100 with 4 or so to a table.

Does NM require masks?

A lot of issues having a gathering in the time of -.  I hope Matt can sort it out.

I would love to attend, but also curious how these various issues would be handled, particularly the food.

Just to clarify , I am only responsible for the events in Cedar Vale , what anyone else chooses to do isn't in my purview . The two rallies are in no way shape or form affiliated with each other .

Until a - is found, it is almost impossible to hold an event for 50-100 old men responsibly.  Besides the issues of social distancing and serving food, many states have bans on large gatherings or travel restrictions.  For instance, I couldn't go to a rally in Kansas even if I wanted to.  Kansas requires a 14 self quarantine for travelers from Arizona.

Sad to say, but rallies have been an endangered species for several years.  Our local BMW club cancelled their rally a year or two ago due to falling attendance.  - may be another blow.  Rallies are run by a very few individuals who do it out of love.  Once they have cancelled this year, they may just let it die.

Well Mike, there you go...all true...so based on that for 2020:

* No Cottonwood Guzzi N.A.R.(May already passed)...
* No Datil in mid-August....
* No Lake Henshaw Guzzi N.A.R. in mid-October...
* No Luckenbach, TX Vintage Motorcycle Weekend in October, etc., etc. etc.

Maybe 2021 will be a better year for ALL of us....

JJ, I'm thinking the solution is some small events.  Maybe 6-8 guys.  Pick a mom and pop motel with a good restaurant
nearby.  Perhaps large patio we can gather on.  Good riding roads nearby.  Let's say The Motor Lodge in Prescott in Sept, Tal WiWi Lodge in Alpine in Oct.  Maybe Bisbee in Nov.  You get the idea.  Save the big events for 2021 hopefully.

How about the world famous Largo Motel in Quemado , NM whether the rally happens or not? I’m already booked for August. I’ll
ride south and do Az 191 north thru Alpine on Friday - The Devils Highway. Good cafe next door. It’s All you could want for a biker getaway.

Right now the MGNOC National in Scott City, Kansas is still on. And the same for Datil. But we still have the month of July to get through and who knows if this will still be true come August. I will post if I get any solid news that something has changed.

Thanks Mike, and will do!  :boozing: :thumb:

SR 191 is CLOSED by Morenci / Clifton due to the recent wildfire.  However, coming up via SR 260 is fine and open, and is the way we are going.  It's about 30 minutes longer.

Alpine temperatures will be 73 in the daytime / 44 at night!! :thumb:     Of course, they are at 9200 feet above sea level in the White Mountains!!

Did I just read some one talking about a Flash Rally.  A small group gather-up fast and off we go.  Look at Birds camp grounds on the mulberry rive just off Ar. 22 then down 300 hy. Not far from Oark. at one time they had cabins, tent spaces with electric.  And some without elect. out by the grass landing field.  And a nice restaurant.  Cold blue water to sit around in (6’ apart) and cold beer for sale at a little store.  With lot’s of curve roads. I just got a call from Matt Forslund and he said his rally and the National have been canceled. He said he is however going to have a bring your own everything rally the same time, no rally fee, and if you RSVP him he is having T-Shirts made up for this BYOE event. He said he heard that the people doing the National may turn that into a BYOE event also, but I would contact the people running the National to confirm that. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Kansas has enacted a 14 day quarantine for travelers coming from Arizona , Arkansas , Alabama , Florida and South Carolina . This list will likely grow over the next few weeks .

Eight of us Washington riders has a overnight guerilla rally last weekend in the Klickitat Canyon. I think that is what it is going to be for the rest of the Summer. Call up a couple buddies and have a quick one. No long trips is a drag.

While I was up in Alpine Tuesday, Matt called me as well and told me the bad news about Datil. It is the right call given the current situation.
Until things change, I believe the days of rallies and large gatherings for motorcyclists are on hold. :undecided:

Matt also said they will still be having an "informal gathering" in Datil that weekend, so if anyone is brave enough on still going,  Matt said please let him know ASAP, (505-850-8383), as they are making up special T-shirts for the occasion.

Also, I cancelled my room at the Eagles Nest Campground. (575-772-5612, if anyone wants a room...

As you know, as well the campground, they have a small motel on site with about 8-10 rooms.
