Or when you're going on the road for a month.   You hand her a single pannier and say "My stuff goes in one pannier, the extra riding gear, tools, and such goes in the top box, so all the clothes you're going to wear for a month, rain, shine, 25 degrees to 90 degrees, has got to go in this pannier."

And she says "Sure, no problem" and you have a great time together ... !

How about when she sees me looking at the 87 LM photos on the computer and says " You should get it!"

They were just photos and no mention it was even for sale. I hadn't said anything.

Or, when we got together - there were three bikes in the living room...

She does like her story of how we met (not true) - she had posted on a dating site and told of touring with her X on his bike. She claims I was searching for a bike like his and that's how I found her.

In maintaining peace and friendship between the sexes, there is generally (on both sides) a very fine and sometimes invisible line between "mutual respect" and "juvenile posturing" ....

We don't have old fashioned roles where the kitchen is hers and the tools are mine.  Equal partners who work together.  We separate income into budgets so we don't have to clear purchases with each other.  Only if we need to borrow from one budget to cover another.

But I was commenting tongue in cheek, but you read something else into it.  My wife doesn't ask for my permission to do this and I don't ask to do that.  That is a good partner for us.  We let each other know our plans which is very different than asking permission.  I laugh at guys who blame their wives for backing out of plans.

22 years ago I started a heating business. My wife offered to help me with furnace and ductwork installs. We worked that way until 2013 when she had shoulder surgery. Now she helps me when I can't find anyone else to help. She also rides in the Sidecar. Sadly she will not ride on the back of the Norge anymore.
