And long may it remain so.  I have dealt with tiered licensing, endless bureaucracy, $3K for a car license and $2-3K additional for a motorcycle license, and so on, quite enough for this lifetime.

During my trip last week I saw a guy riding a midsized bike. He had a sign on his back that said "New Rider." I had never seen that before. I thought it was a good idea.

Maybe this is where the ever elusive concept of common sense comes into play

I prefer having a sign saying "Smile, you are being recorded."

When I wear my GoPro on the top of my helmet, people tend to give me a wide berth.  Unfortunately, girls stopped lifting their shirts, so there is a downside.

What happened to  "And in America we're free..  Free to ride our machines and not be hassled by The Man.."?

That wasn't my statement.  Without some law and order many more innocent people would lose their lives because of the recklessness of others.

Ok, so we do need the Man to hassle some riders in the land of the free.

There are always those few that lack common sense and/or just don't give a crap. Some just kill or mame themselves, some take down others with themselves. In the glider world I can legally obtain my license in a very low performance and forgiving glider and then the next day go out and buy and try to fly a very sophisticated self launching motor glider. Good idea, NOT! Vast majority of pilots know better. Motorcyclist should know better. Not good to go from a Trail 90 to a Bussa.
