ThreeBond Substitute
« on: August 01, 2020, 01:58:10 PM »
The procedure for sealing the rubber grommet on the V7iii alternator calls for ThreeBond sealant the manual doesn't specify which one, I assume its the synthetic rubber 1184A110G
This stuff is unobtanium in Vancouver, I only found one parts guy who has even heard of ThreeBond and he told me they don't ship it to Canada.
We have numerous vendors selling Permatex products, I wonder if Black or Blue gasket maker would be ok to use in place?
Any thoughts?

The Threebond 1211 I use for the rev sensor o-ring is a slightly thick white substance, which does not seem sticky at all - it's more like a rubber grease, but in white.

I think the Yamabond is a substitute and even possibly the Permatex Gray. There are others.

Yamabond worked wonderfully when I had to seal the wiring grommet on a DR650 stator cover some years back.  I've read that Yamabond/Hondabond/Suzukibond is the all same stuff and all made by Three Bond.

Yamabond, Hondabond and Threebond are the same. Check your local Hondawasaki dealer. Mine had some on the shelf.

Try Daytona Motorsports in Surrey or Vancouver for Yamabond ( as has been said it's Three Bond ) and it's good :). Peter

Thank-you Ladies & Gentlemen, I'm sure I can source one of those substitutes.
I should have the parts in my hot little hands when the dealer re-opens next week.

Murry at Modern Motorcycling either has it or will order it for you. Same for Cypress Motorbikes in Delta. 1184 is the latest iteration of 1104 or Yamabond #4. The semi-hardening  grey stuff. Good for home, farm and industry!
