Countdown to 100th Anniversary - Sep 2021
« on: August 17, 2020, 08:23:11 PM »
Something  to look forward to I hope once the - situation passes - should be as much fun to plan as the actual event!

Seems like there will be two separate events, one in Genoa to honor Parodi (May 2021) and one in Mandello del Lario (Sep 2021).

https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/moto-guzzi-100th-anniversary-statue-in-the-works-for-may-14-16-2021-celebration/

https://www.tlm.nl/en/travels/extended-tours/tlm-trip-092021-cento-anni-tour/ - Look how many riders are signed up from Holland alone to go with TLM!

Wondering how many will make it in total.  Time to block the calendar, inquire about freighting the bike over and enjoying a couple of weeks of Italy/Austria/Switzerland riding!

Dream On!

Paul, I have had this on my calendar for the past 3 years !!!

Very much want to do this.   Even though my only words in Italian are “Moto Guzzi,” “Ducati,” and “Pizza.”

Only issue is -.  Can we travel?  Do I still have gainful employment?

Isn't it a little surprising that there hasn't been any word yet about some special "100th Anniversary" models, or editions? Hmmn…

That’s what I am hoping for. Specifically, a roadster version of the V85.

I wish Guzzi had a European Delivery Program where I could pick up the new '22 LeMans 1400 at the 100 Year Rally with accommodations and ride tour.

I don't think a V9 Anniversary Edition would cut it though.

They could probably sell 500 motorcycles if they would just get it together.

I would think that Piaggio/Moto Guzzi North America could have a special celebration here in the states.  Triumph had a "Triumph Across America" in 2002 for their 100th. I took advantage of that celebration and my restored 1965 Triumph Trophy took the best in show here in Ohio.  It was a great time.  Harley Davidson had the big celebration for 100 years in 2003.  I worked at the local dealer and we had a good time too !  Piaggio NA, are you listening or is it too much to ask for all us loyal Moto Guzzi owners here in the USA.......???  The Kid

The special celebration here will end up being the 2021 Annual MGNOC Rally, which is being held in Keene, New Hampshire.

I wish Guzzi had a European Delivery Program...

Wouldn't this be great!  You could do a 600 mile or 1000 mile warm up lap, come get the first service done and then rip around Europe for 2-3 weeks...would be a blast!

A lost business opportunity for sure.  But it needs to be a special motorcycle(s) not a repaint for the same models.  Like a 1400 Tourer like an RT and new big block LeMans Sport (tourer).  I'd bet they'd sell 50 from the states and another 100 on the continent.   And then they would have a new follow on line of bikes to sell worldwide.

And of course they could do some Anniversary V7 and V85.

Definitely, and what a place to go and pick it up...Mandello and surrounding areas are lovely!!

I remember the excitement when my Dad bought a 1973 Volvo from the factory, had it shipped to the East Coast and then driven to California where we lived at the time, it was a nice surprise.

We also picked up a Mercedes 207D (Diesel) bus in 1978 when we moved to Europe for a bit, had that shipped back to California for a few years and I've always thought it would be fun to do a Porsche as well, especially with their new museum.

A Porsche or Volvo would be out of my cost range but Euro Delivery for a new LeMans and vacation would be pretty cool.

I doubt the train will be cheaper than riding there though.
