URGENT Rider broken down Camden AL

A Guzzi rider named Steve is broken down with a mechanical issue on AL Hwy 10 west of Camden, AL. Is there any one close by to lend a hand?  I am about 3 hours away so if someone closer can lend a hand that would be great.  His number is 352-263-9897. He is on the road from FL.

    Some good samaritans brought a trailer and transported my bike to a motel in Thomasville, AL. So my friend and I are safe and out of the heat. But now we have to figure our next step. Not much chance to get it fixed here.

What is the problem?  There is a dealer in Mobile if it's a newer bike and the bike less dealer in Pensacola might help though I don't know if they are still a dealer.

What bike, what year and what problem? There’s an amazing amount of knowledge on this forum but you’ll have to tell them the details.

Glad you are in a safe place. Let us know if you found anything when you removed the valve covers. BTW for other viewers it's an early 2000 EV 2003 I think. Had some bad mechanical engine noises then  it quit running. I'm sure Steve will clarify once he has some time. He's about 500 miles from home.

I’ve got a 4x8 trailer with a ramp that is available. I’m west of Atlanta and can meet someone in LaGrange GA (I-85) or I-20 at the Bama welcome center.

I talked to Steve, spark plug is all smashed from something in the way on inside.  Not Good. Lots of gap in one of the rocker adj. and such. He's figuring stuff right now & busy.

   The good samaritans dropped us off at a motel in Thomasville, AL. Evaluation as follows: removed valve covers. Excessive play on left intake rocker. Removed the plugs and the left plug had been beaten on. It appears the head of the intake valve broke off and probably got stuck to the piston. Just an observation with flashlight through the spark plug hole. No compression on left side. I reserved a U-Haul 15ft van to bring the bike home.
    So in reference to my "Crap" thread, what could go wrong? Well, now I know.

Steve, I am so sorry to hear about this. I just had a break down on my road trip with my Victory. Just an option, Uhaul was hella expensive! For me to come from Columbus Ohio to home would have been 600. I rented a pickup from enterprise and from airport to airport one way was 200 with unlimited miles. Someone could run you to Montgomery I’m sure. Just an option, I know the distances are different.
As it is I work tomorrow but I can come thattaway Tuesday if needed. I’m sorry my Victory is laid up. If it was healthy I’d drop it off for you Tuesday morning so you could finish on two wheels. Oh well. PM me if you need to.

    Thanks Robert. I thought U-Haul was expensive too but I booked on line and it's only going to cost about $350. I've has much better prices from Hertz but they are not here in this rural part of AL. Aside from the disappointment of not being able to finish my ride my friend with his Harley is being very supportive and we'll return to FL and do some local riding for a day or two before he returns to NC. I'll have to ride my Norge though.

   Follow up on my 01 California EV. Got the bikes off the truck this morning. Threatening rain so we decided to look at the EV. Took about an hour to get the head off. ( It was HOT in the garage ) I originally thought the intake valve dropped. Turns out it was the exhaust valve. The head of the valve broke off from the stem which then beat pretty badly the piston and combustion chamber. I just looked up my last valve adjustment. 10,000 miles ago. But the bike was running sweet and making all the right noises. I don't think I'm going to fix this.

I'm  sure you were not too surprised. If you decide to part it out, you'll probably do OK Everything else like fairing, bags, tank, forks, fenders, frame custom shocks etc.  are just fine. Might even make some money.

A bit of JB Weld and that'll buff right out!
