During MONSOON season, (July-August), the female Mexican Blond Tarantula cruises around looking for a mate.

Here is a beautiful example seen tonight.  This is only the second one I have seen this season.





She just needs to stay clear of the Tarantula Hawk (Wasp). 
(...and you don't want to get STUNG by one of these!!!)

Living in Alaska, spiders are scarce, but we do have moose and bears and such, I’m not a fan of spiders, but respect your appreciation.   All that said I think I will stick with Alaska’s fury critters.

 Even in Alaska you are never more than 6 feet away from a spider,  Unless you are naked in a field of snow.
 Even then it is not always certain.  Now when you are in Antarctica you may not be near one unless you brought it with you.

All that said I think I will stick with Alaska’s fury critters.

 Cool!, I wish I could get over my lifelong Arachniphobia, just looking at your photo sends a shiver down my spine.
 A Mojave Green certainly gets my attention and commands respect, but it doesn't creep me out the way a harmless Tarantula does.

I saw about 20 of those hairy suckers at the Okie campout one time. Kinda cool!

Snapped a pic of this assassin fly (aka robber fly) on the roof of my truck on a camping trip yesterday here in East Central Indiana.  This one was about 1.5" long.  Leaves a nasty welt.

In the summertime, where I grew up in upstate NY, (Mid-Hudson Valley), we used to go swimming at a local lake and swim 25 yards out to a floating raft and lay in the sun.  The horsefly's out there were the size of a quarter and gave quite a nasty BITE and a large welt!! 

We never could stay out there for long.  They were quite nasty!
