New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
1977 lemans 1. So now that’s it’s running smooth and well I figure I’d tackle some tuning. I believe my jetting is stock but during the rebuild I went with the 88mm Gilardoni kit, Zard exhaust and a p9 megacycle cam, Alu timing gears (already had those) and it has KN filters. It runs well, pulls strong and I haven’t noticed any flat spots. Any advice on rejecting? Leave it as is?ThxAllen
Yes, get rid of the aluminium timing gears. They are rubbish. Revert to the chain or the gold standard Joe Caruso steel gears.Ciao
I have a set of them gears (hanging on garage wall)that sheared in my IV. Went back to a chain and been good ever since.
Has anyone said take gears out....
First, almost every mile I’ve ridden since 1983 has been with Ago timing gears spinning underneath me.Secondly, Daytona oil pump gears were a SNAFU, unrelated to above.SoWithout prejudice or conspiracy to start keyboard warIf OP wants to detune his bike with a heavy set of gears or a parasitical sprung loaded chain adjuster, I want the removed gears. This happened a few years ago, swapped a pair of rooskin gloves for a used set of Ago gears , thanks Wildguzzi and internet myths.Haven’t done much with them, only 80,000 km (50Kmiles) so not claim of century,, but happy to do same again, have many more miles on other engines, in fact, the timing chain on my Lario will be first maintenance chuckIf I could put alloy gears in that, I would, I lightened f#ck out of sprockets but still heavy things.Heavy and parasitical,
The gears will stay in unless they explode, in that case...The person that helped me with the internal parts said they looked fine and not to worry. Hes very reputable. That being said there’s no guarantee on anything. Worse case scenario, unless it kills me, is having to rebuild another motor. My original post really had to do with carb jetting changes and what direction if at all. Bike feels good to me so far. 500 miles completed. But like I said, Carbs are setup as stock and engine and breathing are far from stock
Yes I know, I take full responsibility for the side track, sorry.Ciao
I meant to ask what the different SNAFU with the Daytona gears were jacksonracing.I know all about the oil pump but there were also issues with the Alloy oil pump and service shaft gears too a seperate problem entirely, where they fractured in a manner not dis-similar to that seen with the after market gear sets installed to the 2 V/V enginesIf you know more I'm all ears
