Fiat Chrysler and PSA
« on: October 26, 2020, 11:32:58 AM »
Well, it looks like the two companies are going to merge.
Fiat, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Maserati with the likes of Peugeot, Opel and DS.
I read that Nissan is looking to get out from under Peugeot partnership.

I'm really looking forward to purchase a Peugeot at the Dodge dealer.  I missed on Fiat.

Should that be from under Renault partnership?

Great choices, the DS has always been one that "I would love to own someday" cars. It blew my mind when I saw one part for the first time as a kid. What a cool car.

Speaking of French cars...
I'm reminded of that old joke that says
Heaven is where
The Police are British
The Engineers are German
The Administrators are Swiss
The Cooks are Italian and
The Lovers are French

And Hell is where
The Police are German
The Engineers are French
The Administrators are Italian
The Cooks are British and
The Lovers are Swiss  :whip2:

You missed out Italians as the designers, looks fantastic, but probably doesn't work.

I wouldn’t mind this frenchie, the re-incarnations of the legendary Renault Alpine A110.

I drove a 1972 original last month and it was beyond my expectations.  Absolutely no issues with it being rear engined or fiberglass, solid, planted and amazingly fast for 1100 cc or whatever it is. That’s the one I’d take.

What would that be?
And what would such a creature fetch on the open market these days?

However much I would want that convertible DS, the normal roof with its futuristic lines just finish the whole package.

Sticks in my mind that the owner of a small company in my home town drove a Citroen powered with a Maserati engine.

Alpine A110.  Ticks a lot of boxes.  Aluminum body, frame, suspension.  1.8 turbo making either 248 or 288 hp, depending on version. 2425 lbs. Mid engine.
Styling is spot on inside and out. Designed with Colin Champman's "add lightness" mission.  This would be a very fun car.

Back in 2006, Grebmrof and I rode our 790cc Bonnevilles from the Cleveland Ohio area out West and back.  Great trip!  When we stopped for gas in the Four Corners area, we ran into 2-3 2CV-powered vehicles.  The drivers and passengers were from England, a couple of the cars were flying the Union Jack.  Pleasant folks!  I'm probably wrong if I call the vehicles 'Locars;'  maybe someone here is familiar with them.  They sure looked like they were enjoying themselves!

Thanks for the feedback, Charlie.  Lomax, not Locar.  I have a video shot of two of them leaving the gas station in 4 Corners, and heading west.  Makes me think one of the three wheeled kits based on a big block Guzzi engine would be a fun thing.  However, the practical side of me might over rule heart over head, and land me in a good low mileage, several year old Miata.
