Windshield spoilers

I’d like to try a clip on windshield extension on my V85 Travel.  I am puzzled, however, by the huge differences in prices on these things.  This one from Revzilla, for example, is $120:

While this one, which appears to be virtually identical, is $25 on eBay:

Has anyone tried either one?  I’m thinking there’s no difference between the two that would justify the additional $100.

My son got me one. I don't care how much they cost, those mounting arms magnify every little movement so they shake like crazy. I ended up making one myself out of lexan & mounting it directly to the windscreen with grommets & brass bolts.

I bought a bike the had a Wunderlich windscreen spoiler on it.  Out of curiosity I looked it up and is was cost $185 new . Sure it was on ball bearings and was machines to a .00000001 tolerance and infinitely adjustable but worked equally well as a $19 knockoff from Amazon at being right in the way of where you are looking.

I I were you and wanted to try one of these spoilers I'd look for the cheapest avalaible to give it a whirl so if it doesn't work out your not out a lot of money. If it does work you didn't spend a lot of money. Win/win!

I have an eBay one for $25 and it works a treat. I can ride with my visor up at any speed, with a short screen.






The only thing is, once set up, you have to glue the adjusters or they will vibrate loose.

I bought one from my dealer 3 bikes ago.  I paid $119.00 for it.  The support arms and mounting mechanism are robust and of high quality.  I first put it on a stock K1200RS windshield and it smoothed the airflow while staying well below my field of vision.  Next, it went on the Blu Guzz, my 1400 Custom with the Guzzi touring screen.  That screen was tall, but the buffeting was very bad.  I nearly had to look through it, but not quite.  A big improvement but not perfect until I got the lowers from my dealer.  After the lowers, very smooth and quiet. I tried it without the spoiler but it was still better with it on.  Also on that bike, it had come with a very short screen a little bigger than a fly screen. Using the device on that one with the flip pointed horizontal did not provide more coverage in the hot months, but did smooth the airflow out.  Finally, I now use it on the stock V85 screen in that horizontal position in the summer with the same smoothing effect as on the 1400 and for the winter, I bought a Cal-sci, but must have ordered it an inch too short because it buffeted.  Of course, I used the handy-dandy deflector on it and it is smooth, quiet and below the sight line. 
So, I hope that is enough info to help.  A suggestion is to buy an "el-cheapo" on flea bay to see if it works for you and then if so and you want a quality piece, get one of the better ones.  Over the course of 7 years, $119.00 breaks down to less than $20 per year and well worth the cost to me.

I've had them all.  MRA quality is the best of the lot by wide margin in terms of tolerance and general workmanship, for those who value such qualities.

MRA makes a quality product. I also use the Laminar Lip product on several bikes.  While neither will get any complements on their looks, they both work in my experience.

I've had both the MRA and now have the EBay model for $20.00.  The MRA is of better quality, but they both do the same thing.  I have the EBay model mounted on my v85 with oem tall screen, I have to look through it which I don't like but it's the only way I've found to cut down on the wind noise/buffeting.  Good luck with your choice!
