In 2020 I was surprised with how many people in in California bought the V85-TT.

I couldn't wait until New Years and with the new V7-85 to ask and I've wondering how many of us figure on another Guzzi in 2021?

Being retired with limited riding this year I did buy a V65 SP stored in a "barn" for a decade, dropped repeatedly and poorly repaired/modified.  a real Resto-Mod for 2020

A few months ago I had to put my favorite hunting dog to sleep.  Tonight my other 15 1/2 year old spaniel of the "Brace of Hunting Spaniels" has shown she's not long for this world.  I'm calling the Vet in the morning

I'm getting to old to wait, after New Year's I'm going to visit a fella who's had a sidecar for sale for some time....

First, sorry for your dog issues - that sort of thing is never easy.  BTDT

I need to put another 20K on my Norge, then I may start looking for a lighter Guzzi.  Maybe that new V7 could be the one, if I don't get a V85.  I'll keep the Goldwing for the long rides, but for shorter stuff or getting off the tarmac, something lighter that isn't all plastic would do the trick.

Thinking of 470-500 lbs as being light weight may sound strange to some, but the Norge is currently my lightweight bike.

p.s.  Why another 20K?  That will put me a bit over 100K on Sophia.

Sorry to hear of your current hunting dog and the dog you had put to sleep a few months ago.  I have a 14 year old English springer spaniel that is not long for this world either.  I am looking into a 2005 Breva 750ie if i can get it for my price which i doubt.  I think the owner is firm on his price and we are about 500$ different.  Oh well.  Life is short and goes on so be happy with what we got!

Craving a plusher ride than my well-liked V7 III can offer. Rather then dumping $$$ into premium suspension upgrades I may get a V85TT if used ones start to hit the market.

Sorry about the dogs.. Thats always hard..

As for a new Guzzi..  I always keep a eye out. I wasn't looking for a cruzer when I stumbled across my clean low mile cali metal right down the road..I just had to get it. I love the bike, and its going nowhere, but I still dream of something more sporting..  Age and how I use it is telling me to get something smaller, so I might just end up with a V7, but you know...  Ive had the sidecar bug about as long as ive wanted a Guzzi, and it would be great to fill both wants..  So ya.. Im looking. A nice V7, or a Guzzi/sidecar rig..   Doubt it will be this year though, but you never know.

Sold the Norge.  I'll be interested is a V85 variant in a road going motorcycle as opposed to the TT style if and when it comes along to replace the Norge.

I'm really liking the look of the new V7, but haven't seen a V85tt in person yet. Also really like a used Cali 1400 variety.  Best answer it depends on a lot of things aligning and moving the Centauro.

Only a few of my motorcycle purchases in life have been "planned".   Right now I have more bikes than I ride, and I do know that (due to natural human aging processes) I won't be buying any bikes as heavy and powerful as two of them that I already have, so it's more likely that the herd will be culled than enhanced.

No new heavy powerful ones ... old, interesting, and lighter might be in the cards ...

I would like to find a GUZZI big single, preferably a postwar GTV, and I wouldn’t turn down a Galeto project.

Six years ago I looked at a 77 Convert with a Velorex sidecar I saw on Craig's list.  Didn't know much about Guzzis at the time but the fact that it was missing the clutch and had one speed concerned me.  The owner said he still rode it around the small town now and then, and it was fun to drive it from the side car and see folks reaction.  The amount of dust on it indicated the local rides were not too often anymore so I passed on it.  I might call the guy again in the future to see if it is still in his garage, but I plan to look at a newer Cali first and trade up if it fits my short stature.

I wouldn't worry about running in one gear....Low/High range.  They do well in either range.  A clutch isn't necessary.  Just make sure you have the brakes on when starting the engine.  It'll jump on you and start rolling.     BTDT.

IMHO the Velorex 562 is not a good match for the convert. The chair is too light for the bike. The Velorex was made for 300 to 500cc bikes with minimal HP. Not that the Convert is a muscle bike but it just too big. I have Velorex 562 on a 36 HP DR650 and had extensive work done to it to add natural ballast and rigidity to make it a better match for all the HP.

I'd run ballast in that too.

I can't rule it out but if they made something tall, with good legroom and came out with an engine with more power than their current lineup, I'd consider it.

Quite maybe, depending on when or if the V785 comes out.

If the stats are similar to the ones for the Triumph Street Twin I've been eyeing, I'd druther go with the Guzzi.

What would be a recommended weight for a sidecar on a Convert, this is for sale near me for a reasonable price.

As far as a NEW bike in the stable, unlikely in 2021 unless it is to replace something.  I have all I need.

My first Guzzi was a '76 Convert with a California sidecar. The chair was a good match for the bike. I also built a '69 Bonneville with a Routt 750 big bore kit with a Velorex 562. That was a matched set, too and drove real nice. I put a lawnmower battery in the chair for a little ballast.

No idea. I lost out on a old Velorex 562 back in the early 90's because everyone told me my old GS650 was just way to small for it..  now people tell me that the chair is too small for any real size motorcycle. SO I am pretty clueless about it.

I have put in offers on three bikes within the last two weeks about, and two cars.  Lost them all, or seller said no to my offer.  Latest is this 2005 Breva 750ie.  2020 luck is running out so Im guessing i will get lucky on one in 2021.  Happy New Year!
