Needless to say I hope it goes for a lot. It looks like a very nice repainted example since I don't believe that was a color offered.

Wow, that is a nice bike.  If it was mine the reserve would be at least $10K.

Plenty. Parts for the top end are virtually impossible to get now and the fact that they only ever made around 3900 of these engines in all their guises total that's not likely to change in the future. One with this low mileage would be a good buy as long as you weren't going to put a lot of miles on it over the years.

I don't remember an all black either.  Closest would be the anthracite model.

I saw it a few weeks ago at Moes shop. The bike looks really really nice. It's not a restoration so it'll probably go for a decent price. I know it's fun to shit on what he charges for a restoration, but goddamn are those bikes are beautiful and those guys take a lot of pride in what they do. If you pop in, get a T-shirt !

As of this morning, Feb. 19th...$2,185...8 bids...5 days to go.

I agree with Turin, say what you want about the cost, but restorations from Moe and his team at Cycle Garden are "FIRST CLASS" :thumb:   :thumb:

Is it a Centauro GT with a Centauro Sport fairing and chin spoiler or a repainted tail end Centauro Sport with a Centauro GT seat and luggage rack? The ad mentions the belts have been replaced but not that the oil pump has been upgraded which would be a missed opportunity.

All I know is that it would be hard to replace the fun factor of my Centauro for less than 5k, so still hoping it climbs higher

I sometime think about selling my Centauro GT...then, I go for a ride on it and say: "What was I even thinking?!?"

Yes, you are right...and I remember that happening...
So about $6,500-$6,800 seems to be the CMV (Current Market Value), which I guess is not too bad for a classic Centauro

Heck yeah, thats pretty good-- BAT numbers! Glad for the owners, but not a bike for me. $6k seems kinda spendy for an engine donor

Valve cover says ohc 4 valve.....what's the story on this engine? Any serious issues ?

It's the same engine as the Daytona RS of 1997.

Oil pump was an issue.  Easy fix.

lots of unobtanium on this bike, so wouldn't recommend for a daily driver.

Is it a Centauro GT with a Centauro Sport fairing and chin spoiler or a repainted tail end Centauro Sport with a Centauro GT seat and luggage rack?

There is no way to know that answer for sure, as the difference between a GT and a Sport was paint, seat, luggage rack, and windscreen.  Except for the paint, all bolt on accessories.

Import numbers being what they were, odds are it's a GT with the accessories changed around.  The chin spoiler and bikini fairing were available in the accessories catalog.

Yes all true. Oil pump is a straight forward fix as is the cam drive gear which is also a weak link as it's made of aluminium and wears badly. The aluminium oil pump drive gear tends to fail as well. So a set of steel gears and decent pump $1500USD. Both mandatory if you are going to put miles on it but not if it's not ridden much.
I'll leave out the top end issues as it's the same scenario, low usage no big worries, want to put another 30,000 miles on it then you need to upgrade parts.
