LMAO, I was wondering when you'd catch on. I wasn't gonna let it go on for much more. How is the family???? Seems a Buell buddy got me looking into a MG. This is on it's way to me from California.

Well it looks like I caught on the first post I saw!

Everyone here is awesome (I think there's a couple more here then when we last saw you).

You'll never believe where we are b(unless you already read it). Jenn moved us here going on 7 years ago now when she finished residency/fellowship and finally got a damn job after 27 years of school or something like that.

Fleets changed a bit over the years, I think you prevent missed the Buell, maybe a couple of the Guzzis and what we have now.

But bottom line, can't bitch!

How about you guys?

That V11 looks gorgeous! Damn.

Life is good!

Glad to hear! Medford? Just South of where we used to live.  When we get back up there we will have to get together. I try to go to the 'Gathering of the Nortons' in April in Washington Crossing park, but don't think I can make it this year. All is well, I miss the snow skiing, but damn I love riding year round and having Daytona an hour South of me. David 'Jolly' on this and other web sites I have become friendly with. He's the guy who engineered the bar ends for the V11's. I was supposed to buy his V11 sport special , but the timing wasn't right for me. Found the Rosso Mandello and it's on it's way. If you ever head to Florida look us up. My daughter keeps threatening to move out so when she does, we have a spare guest room., LOL. She reminds me of you, she's been training in MMA/Martial arts.

Ran a 4400 homelite for the past 30 years. Hooked it up to the 220 in the garage and pulled the main. It would run everything but the AC. After the derecho last summer, out of power for a week, wife has respiratory issues, put in a 13kw Generac standby. It was 3 grand, installed it myself. Nat gas. I joked with the neighbors that we will probably never have another outage.

Been a minute on the Norton thing. Did you catch the coverage I gave it for Common Tread a couple (woah 4) years back?

FL sounds warm and inviting about now.

MMA - ha nice! I'm just starting to teach my 9 y/o some basics. Every girl should know how to hit effectively!

Nat gas! Not a portable though was it? I couldn't find one without having to install a conversion kit?

I have a nat gas line out back at my grill, it would have been even more convenient than the portable petrol unit.

Yeah, I knew Dan wouldn't mind... he's a kind soul.

I was looking for a pic to post and realized it's been so long since I've seen this guy it was:

* 2 houses ago
* Jenn was in medical school
* I had a Jackal - and it was still black
* None of those photos are currently on my Google account that goes back almost that far

Meta-data suggests that was 2005 - damn time flies!

I inspect a new whole house genset installation in my AO a couple, three times a month. They're all propane powered. Biggest mistake I see made is not enough propane on site. I wouldn't have less than 500 gallons on hand for a 10-15K system.
I have a 5K Kubota on wheels at my house. It will run the well, boiler, and a bunch of lights. Uses about a tank, 4 gallons in 9 hours. I practice energy management at the circuit breaker panel. Mrs. larrys would light up the whole place if I didn't.

At $3.00? bucks per gallon that is quite a bit of cash. I assume propane consumption is no different than natural gas consumption.

Our 15KW Generac powered by natural gas ran for three days straight after the last hurricane and it cost me about $150 bucks. Not cheap but living without AC after a hurricane is no fun either.

Well, yeah. How much would it cost you to rehab your house if the pipes froze and broke and ruined the interior of your house?

I'm not complaining. But I am curious as to why a 1,500 gallon propane tank is required for the same natural gas system unless one is out of power for weeks. Unless delivery of propane is a concern after multiple outages in a short period of time?

I had the big 1000 gallon propane tanks at all of my houses in SC, MI, GA. No natural gas was available where I lived. This rental in Iowa is the first I've had natural gas. I suspect most of rural America operates on propane.

I said 500 gallons not 1500. If you have natural gas service you wouldn't need a propane tank. Also, gas appliances are set up to run on natural gas or propane. Natural gas appliances are listed for natural gas only. To run it on propane, all the nozzles need to be changed out and the appliance relabeled. Same for vice versa. You are correct concerning a propane fired genset. The issue with a too small propane tank for your genset is that if there is a significant weather event the local propane company may not be able to refill your tank for a period of time.

Oh you got that right! If I didn't have a full tank before a blizzard in Michigan I was doomed. Several years I couldn't get propane delivered after a big snow because the truck couldn't get up my driveway. Often had to go 2-3 weeks without a propane delivery. I learned a 20# tank would get me 24 hrs of heat. I bought a 100# tank to get me almost a week.

Are you running a generator from PTO off a tractor?   Or is there a Kubota generator?

For those who had rather have the power from a source than a truck.
Self contained, fob or key start with remote control, quite and efficient. Gasoline powered and only 1200 bucks!

It is a Kubota generator. I once thought that Kubota generators were rebadged Yamahas, but it turns out that Yamaha generators were rebadged Kubotas... I have a buddy who buys, fixes up, and sells generators all the time gave me two of 'em for $200 and told me to put all the good parts into one genset and give him back the parts I didn't use. It has electric and pull start, 4 gallon tank, full panel with voltmeter, circuit breakers, 110 and 220 volt receptacles, low idle function, the 'wheelbarrow kit', and a big quiet muffler.
If it ever craps out I'll buy a Honda.
