Like I said the other day, that is the bike I would choose. No hesitation.  No second thoughts.

Very, very cool.

Hard to explain how difficult a 30 M Manx Norton is to ride fast and smooth .

Maybe easier to bring one over and show me Dusty. My 500 Yamaha single is consistently 5mph faster than my Commando in the mountains.  Even if I can’t make the Manx fast at least I can hear it in my dreams for a while.

Oh they are a glorious motorbike when on song , but when they fall off the mega at 3,000 RPMs in second gear and no matter how much you slip the clutch and blip the throttle the dang thing won't clear its throat , well , some of that glory disappears .

Well, this one does have a Mikuni carb so maybe it sings a bit better?

Maybe a little bit . The problem is more related to valve sizes and included valve angles , at low engine speeds those old highly tuned British singles suffered from slow inlet and exhaust gas speeds , resulting in poor combustion . It was sometimes called "megaphone-itis , although that was not the sole source of the problem . AJS 7R's and Matchless G50's were the same way , let one fall off the pipe , burble burble , blat , pop , burble .
