Does this part exist??
« on: March 23, 2021, 03:45:09 PM »
Howdy from Austin, TX

Have a beautiful 2014 Racer in my hands and looking for this brittle "quick release" tee valve that recently broke. Not the most sound design IMO and have spent weeks trying to repair (JB weld, etc.) Any help on the specific name of this piece or where to find it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone's in the area and could offer some tune-up help for cash/beer that would be great.

Easy riding~

Did you check with AF1 racing, your local MG dealer?

An auto parts store may have a plastic T the size you need? Look in the section with vacuum lines and such.

I guess I'd be looking to fix this rather than replace as well, especially at $160 for the fuel hose assembly.
You might be able to make something up, but since the fuel is under pressure there I'd be hesitant to go down to the parts store and grab a vacuum tee.

I thought that was a vacuum line, not the fuel line.

I still would look at repairing it. Scratch the plastic T. As mentioned get a brass one instead and a few hose clamps.

I'd just epoxy it

I’d just make a brass one.
Solder/silver solder/braze the junction.

Update 6/2/21

Thank you for all the responses.
After graduating UT Grad I've had some time to work on it. Due to the location of the break, using an A/B epoxy with a clamp was difficult and not a strong enough hold. The age of the plastic also rendered heat mending to also not work. Was unable to locate a brass "T" as a replacement. Not impressed in the slightest with the "quick release" feature and find it quite ridiculous. The plastic "T" becomes very brittle overtime so be aware!

Solution: Bought a brand new line off the same model on eBay for $60.

Thank you for the help!

For $60, that is EXACTLY the right solution!

Good on you.

That'll work for a while. How did the first one get broken?

All those quick release fittings are not put on for ease of maintenance, rather to save a few pennies on the assembly line.
