Koso Apollo Heated grips

  Am not interested in Oxford units ( the controller makes them a no-go) .  Peter

I've had the shorter 120mm version on my V7ii for 2 seasons, and they've been working great on cool Canadian mornings...

  Thanks for getting back to me , and wouldn't you know it , the 120mm ones are $30.00 more than the 130mm ones :( .

I've had the 120mm Koso Apollo grips on my V7III for about two years, and I too am very happy with them.  They work well down to at least the low 40s, the controller is small, easy to use, and integrates well with other controls on the handlebar.

I have them on my Suzuki TU250X and that pair has gotten me down into single digit ºF temps for my ~5-mile commute. I have another pair that I'm planning to install on my new V7 III which was previously on a Honda Nighthawk 750, but they're the 130mm version and I'm undecided about whether to try trimming them (there's a review online where this was done) or just buy a new pair of 120mm grips

agdrache -- I suggest the 120mm for your V7 III which is what I have.  On the RH side, the throttle tube has two ridges, inside and outside, that support the MG grip.  You will have to remove the outside ridge to install the Koso but there is just enough room to leave the inner ridge in place if you extend the handlebar with a spacer washer.  No cutting of the Koso required although the inner ridge is exposed.  BTW I didn't use adhesive for either Koso grip.  But then I don't twist the wick all that hard any more.

I mounted the power block, which includes a fuse, under the fuel tank tie-wrapped to the inside of the RH tank support.  If you are installed the MG USB adapter, the 2-pin connector with Orange (Ignition-On) and Blue (Ground) wires is an excellent power source (Fuse B 15amp).  The connectors are available on Amazon.  Get the variety pak -- they are useful whenever you need a watertight connection.

I recommend you convert your headlight to LED as the MG's 268W alternator doesn't have much reserve for heated gear.

Thanks for the tip! I'm debating whether to spend the extra money on a new set or try to trim the 130mm set that I already have on hand - it'd be nice if I could get replacements of just the grips so that I don't have to pay full price for a new set. I haven't seen the need to use any glue to install them before either...it was hard enough just getting them onto the bar/throttle tube with a rubber mallet that I never saw the need for anything more than that. I'm not an aggressive rider either.

This is pretty much exactly what I had in mind after taking the right side cover off and looking at the options the other day. I have a connector on order, but only felt the need for one, so I ordered it from somewhere other than Amazon.

Perhaps! I'll have to see what options are out there. Fortunately we're getting into the part of the year where I don't need the heat as much, but I definitely prefer the larger diameter of these grips over the stock ones.

 Koso grips are installed on the 2018 Eldorado . Holy crap , what a task , left grip with some Griplock glue slid right on !
 Throttle grip almost 3 1/2 hours . Why you ask , well as it turns out the throttle tube is 3/4 of a millimeter too wide . I started
 by trying to open up the inside of the grip with a tube wrapped in sand paper and mounted to my drill press , really slow so
 I decided to sand down the grip tube . Patience of Job to get that down to the correct width with many different grits of sand
 paper. Was a very firm push , no glue used . They work well , but I don't think I'd go through that again .   Peter

 So I went out for a ride today in balmy 7 degree C temp ( Brrrr) . Even with thin leather gauntlets on in the yellow ( mid)
setting it was nice and warm :):), I can now enjoy spring rides !  Peter
