2021 V85TT Guzzidiag
« on: April 08, 2021, 06:49:59 AM »
Hello, I did ask this question on the back of another post a week or so ago and had no luck so thought I would try again. I'm new to the Guzzi brand and recently bought a new 2021 V85tt Centenery. I fitted a few genuine extras including the heated grip set and that means I should reset the TPS.
I bought the leads from Lonelec and downloaded the Guzzidag software but can't connect with the ECU. Having read the tutorial I'm not convinced that the ECU is supported.
Can anyone please help in identifying the ECU in the picture?
Thanks, Sye

I don't know that anything changed for 2021, but on my 2020 I connected to it as a California 1400 as that uses the same ECU.

Thanks Bisbonian, that's what I thought too but the interface is different. The 2021 model is Euro 5 and has a square red plug, not the wide three-pin. I did get the correct lead from Lonlec and the LED lights up when connected.
The problem seems to be that Guzzidiag is not connecting with the Ecu.

All V85 have the same red 6 pin connector that is supposed to be on any make euro 5. But where 19-20 had an 7sm ecu that can be talked to on K line like any older injected Guzzi, the 2021 only talks on CAN bus, and Guzzidiag isn't that far. It uses a new Marelli 11MP ecu, that is used on the new 2021 Aprilia RSV4, RS660 and Tuonov4 too.  We have to start all over to make it talking, and it will need a new adapter cable, not only the red one but also the KKL interface will be replaced by something else. Also the v7 850 has another ecu as we have ever used.
The most radical change after 10 years Guzzidiag.

If you have an automotive scanner, you can try to see if that connects and displays anything.

Thanks for the comprehensive info. Will have to make a trip to the dealer next week.  :thumb:

The stupid thing is that in the automotive sector they think all customers are morons, so they won't give any info as "service" go to the dealer. Not thinking about that the dealer can be closed because of weekend of far away. And certainly you shouldn't touch what they build with any tool. We try for 10 years to give people insight in what is happening, we are not ready:-)

Hi any news and update on this one?
When will GuzziDiag be available for the E5 V85TT?

I foolishly (not knowing about the E5 having an 11MP ECU) ordered the KL1 device+adaptors from Lonelec 4 days ago.
Well, will not be able to use them from what I read. Should have done more research. 50 Euro right into the bin.
I am an ECU newbie. I worked and rode 'carbed' bikes for the last 30 years.
cheers
Andreas

Well, means you got the answer you were looking for. Search must have worked. The hackers are at it.

Has anyone used a standard automotive style OBD2 code reader with the Lonelec cable to read and clear fault codes?

On the earlier ECU's you are able to fudge an ECU reset by leaving the batte,,ry's negative terminal disconnected for a while. Is this still effective with these newer ECU's?

@ Chethro, re OBD2 reader
yes I have used the one attached.
MaxDia KT100 & Euro5 Adapter 6 Pin for Mcl

It does connect, will read codes (mine had none) and has an option to delete/reset the error codes. It was 44 Euro incl. shipping from eBay.

Hi,
@Willeand are you still using this code reader? And have you used it to identify a code?

I have recently bought a 2021 V85tt E5 and the engine light has come on unexplainably.  Guzzidiag that I have used on my faithful B1100 wont work apparently so interested in this alternative.

New way to clear engines check lite. Swap bikes with your mate ride around 40km turn the bike off and when you turn it back on the engine check loght goes off.
Dont know how it works but have a reliable witness to this actuality!
