pack a set of hepco mounts and bags 1/2 full of tools,  fly out and ride it back to OK/MO/KAN from East Coast. hmmm that's over 1500 miles on the slab...on secondary roads...1800 miles?

No. Chrome ended with the T-3 series.

So Chrome over Aluminum was by model, not year of manufacture?

It's complicated. V700, Ambo, Eldo, T, T3, V7 Sport/S/S3 all had chrome bores. 850 Le Mans had iron liners, so did the Convert, G5, SP, and CX100 until they switched to Nigusil around '80/'81.

My first Moto Guzzi in 1978 was a 1977 silver Convert with a color matched Vetter fairing. The only thing that looks changed on this example is someone 'modified' the seat and the rear crash bars and saddlebags are missing. This could be a fun bike for minimal cost. These early ones had the solid/heavy flywheel as well. I hope it goes to a good home as it likely has a lot of life left in it.

Were there ever any Round Head nigusil engines? (from the factory)

Yes, as I wrote, beginning production in 1980.

I thought it would go higher.

maybe the - bike boom is fading or it never included the Convert.

it probably appears to be a big-engined heavyweight to the uninitiated and we know their prices did not soar like the rest.

There's a real nice one on the Facebook group "Moto Guzzi Bikes & Parts".

I like the Convert "dash" just fine. It's different than just about any other in motorcycling, just like a Convert. Not everything has to have two dials in a stylish binnacle. How boring.

The Convert Dash grows on you.  I found that the small windscreen I installed helps with the view.....  :bike-037:

Ha! I'm not alone on the dash! (actually, I'm more of a fan of the 2nd gen dash, but that one suits 1st gen perfectly - goes well with the tail piece)

I've never seen a Convert of any vintage with anything but the "breadbox". The Cal II Auto had a different dash though.

I think you're right on this. For some reason I thought there was a later model with the SP style taillight AND the T3 style dash, but looks like it maybe just had the different tailight? (like Greg Bender's?)

Yes, SP style taillight, but always the "bread box" from what I've seen.

The one in MN is a good deal.  The one in NH isn’t.  By the time you got the seat fixed, rear crash bars, bags...that have to be color matched because of the tank respray and get new tires you’d be into it for at least as much as the one in MN.  The MN bike has 30k less miles and is in much better condition.

Johnny, You mean Indiana instead of Minnesota? I agree, but I think the WG forum member from Iowa is beating me to it since I am taking too long to come up with the cash.
