I bought a little Olympian for lake and small river fishing. It needs a little help, and the trailer is a little rusty. All surface at this point, no heavy scales or holes. I dismantled it, and will strip the old paint and rust off and repaint it, but what can I do about the interior walls? Anyone with experience with this have a creative solution?

Airplane maintenance commonly employs CorrosionX spray inside enclosed spaces as corrosion inhibitor- don’t know about applications to rust. Might call the company.

There is a product called penetrol. I would look into that as it is easy to get and effective.

Check out the Rust Store. I would use Fluid Film with an undercoating gun set up to coat rocker panels and frame rails.

Eastwood sells a inside frame coating. Has a long flexible wand to get to get into enclosed frames. Seems to work well.

I have my truck undercoated with fluid film from a local guy, holds up well to our crappy winters. I also sprayed my utility trailer and snow plow with spray cans I bought at the auto parts store, I recommended it.

I’m +1on fluid film sprayed with an undercoating gun . It comes in 2 colors , black or snot yellow. Personally I like the soap & water clean up also I’ve let it sit in the spray equipment for 6 months with no ill effects!

Used boat trailers are a crapshoot. If it is rusty on the outside, it is just as rusty if not more on the inside. You won't know until it starts breaking up when you're going down the road. YMMV.

Yup. That's why I tore it apart and started this project to begin with. Now that the paint is off, I can see what I have to work with and it is pretty solid. Worth the effort, as treated and painted it should last.

I like to use a conversion product, Ospho is one that is sold by Ace hardware. Converts rust to a passive oxidation which acts like a primer that should be painted over because water can make it activate causing a white fuzz to form. But it does stop the rust. On tools it works to put oil on after the treatment is dry. Inside a frame rail it would be easy to apply, followed by your choice of paint or oil.
