Pay-Per-Poop: A History of Pay Toilets
« on: August 16, 2021, 01:40:30 PM »
It's been awhile since I paid.  They use to be in the airports here.  $.10 for use.  Bummer if you didn't have a dime.  😳

I remember when I lived in Aachen, Germany, most of the public toilets on the street were...."COIN ACTIVATED!"

 :laugh: :grin: :wink: :shocked: :rolleyes: :huh:

Last time that I was in Israel (two summers ago) almost all the facilities were pay per use. If you didn't have the right coin you couldn't get in. A lot of people just jumped the barrier. In the arab-palestine sections there was was no pay per use. It was all kind of creepy. When I was there in the 70's there was no pay toilet.

 The topic is pay toilets. This is what it has come down to. And here I am. Whoo-boy.

I'll never forget the pay toilet graffiti:

Here I sit, all broken-hearted;
Paid a dime and only farted.

20 years ago in Switzerland it was one franc for #1 and 2 francs for #2 in the pay WCs, AND the cleaning lady checked you out while you wizzed.

"Manhattan:
• Madison Square Park (Madison Avenue between East 23rd and East 24th Streets)"

I have used this one, it's clean. There is a free washroom in Union Square @14th st. but I couldn't make it to that one which is not too clean(but I've seen worse) and has a regular parade of weirdo's.

I have observed that the further into the northeast I get the less available clean public restrooms there are around.

There is another verse, likely written by a Red Suspender type:
Next time I will take the chance
save a dime and shit my pants.
