FiaGuzzi racer
« on: October 30, 2021, 04:19:17 PM »
Ive a local contact who is involved in racing cars, usually oddball stuff for the Lemons (not LeMans) class.  I mentioned my Guzzi project to her and she sent me these two links to videos of the Fiat600/Guzzi "FiaGuzzi" racer her team built.

Pretty cool!

Its a shame that massive air ducting didn't work well enough for it. It'd be fun to see that project work well!
yeah, I might be addicted to brake fluid. But I can stop any time I want.

I'd not be surprised if the ducts add enough drag to offset any power gains, that's a lot of extra frontal area.  But the focus of the Lemons class seems to be more along the lines of having fun coming up with a wacky project that gets run on the race track vs actually winning.  Getting something built and and going around the track probably counts as a first-order win before a race is ever flagged off.

Either this is a car I saw over a year ago, or there are TWO FiaGuzzis running around the track.

Think about them apples.

It's not going to go fast enough to worry about drag.

It can go at least as fast as a pushbike, and they worry about drag.

This showed up at the Nevada State Guzzi Campout.

The next day his wife showed up with this one. Brand X motor though, she didn't know if she should bring it. We told he we didn't discriminate.

I mostly miss those suicide doors !..  If you ever had a car so equipped, you would want nothing else, ever...
