Happy Veterans day and thanks to those who served! My old man in North Africa. WWII right before going to Mt. LaDefensa and Anzio, Italy.
Absolutely. And those are some grand pix of those who, as fathers, gave us life literally and also, along their military way, did so much for so many others by their service.followed that by eating supper at a nice restaurant. The sign at the door had "Today's Specials" ... followed by a colorful "Happy Memorial Day!" Sigh. Anyway, I took advantage of today's fine weather and rode the Griso on some favorite local roads. Aside from the Stars & Stripes flying on our big pole, I put these at our gate. :thumb:Niiiice Thanks to all who served, and to those, too, who are grateful for that service.Bill
Sometimes being a Veteran ( USAF 73-77) has its advantages. My license plate frame on the EV says USAF Veteran, suggested by a Navy Veteran friend. On a ride last summer I was burning the carbon out on a rural hiway and went thru a blind intersection where a law enforcement agent was stopped. The nice young officer caught up to me in less than a mile after I’d slowed down and pulled me over. He asked to see my license and DD214, a few minutes later he thanked me for my service, and told me about his service. He than reminded me that I’d have a better chance of still riding when I turned 70 if I paid closer attention to my speed. No ticket, probably close to 20 miles over, he had me. I thanked him for his service and said good bye. Seems many of our law enforcement officers are also Vets and there is a brotherhood of shared experiences.
