I'm not connected in any way but just saw this pop up on CL. I could possibly check it out for someone interested.

I’d be interested if there were a practical way to ship all this stuff.  Foto, you’re not coming out here to ski this year, are you?  I could find part of your trip.

I can't risk skiing on these knees anymore.. tempting tho, my wife has a cousin in Longmont who I'd like to see.. I have a job this winter but maybe in the spring? I'm hoping to get another RV next summer, that would be a good trip.
So chance of me bringing it are slim..
Personally I think he's asking a little too much.

To the experts, would this not be a 1974 with the disc brakes?

I'm not an expert on V7 history, but that looks like a Honda caliper to me.

And I thought the rotors would be solid not drilled ??
The 4LS front assembly would be $$$

Looks to be mostly there but the front end with what looks to be a Honda caliper is a big let down, damn near impossible to find a complete 4LS drum front end. Rear end, shocks, seat, headlight and headlight brackets, tool boxes, swan neck bars, engine, foot rests etc are correct. One could fit a dual disc front end with the narrow width V7 Sport triple clamps and swap to rod activated rear brake and left hand shift to have a 74 type V7 Sport/ 750S.
$5k is a lot money for this project IMHO given the wrong front end.

I’m still in Vegas, let’s see. If I put a dollar on 17 black and it hits 12 times in a row I’d have almost enough $$

Good going.  I think it is definitely worth saving and the price is not that far off.  If you score, have all the "usual suspects" alerted to keep an eye out for a proper 4LS front.

Mine is 53 units newer than this one.

Thanks Dave! A lot has to happen for me to make this work but it’s a dream bike for sure.

Is that left swan neck bent?

No. ID# makes a '73. Probably built in Sept-Nov 1972?
Would've been built with a 4LS drum brake front end. To convert it will require the unique lower fork legs.
Guessing it was laid down on the left side. Bent bar and shifter looks scraped up. Title is salvage?

Is that left swan neck bent?

Yes, but it looks like it can be saved.  The swan necks are a mismatched set.

Keep the restoration costs to 10K and you can break even on it.

Front forks are the originals, front wheel and brake are not, of course.

Good to know, that's what I thought.  That's a big plus. There is a treasure trove of hard to find V7 Sport parts here.  I think it's worth the 5k.

I looked at these pics and communicated with the seller. The brake reaction boss for the 4LS brakes have been ground off the fork legs. It's got a built 850T motor and the original motor is included but condition is unknown. Not enough pieces for me to make it worth putting together. BTW, those swan necks bend if you look at them funny.

Very interesting post.  I hope someone gets this bike and posts pictures and a build thread.  I would love to get something like this for a future project. I’d probably pay the asking price after a few minutes of gentle haggling. The 850 motor would take up space though.

I ended up making a deal on this. After looking it over a bit today my list of parts are long and some pricy ones too.
It’s lived a rough life no doubt. It’s going to be a long journey…

I’ll start a thread on the rebuild forum.

Preliminary parts are:
4LS (I have a possible lead on that)
Foot rest brackets
Cylinder heads
Swan necks
Silencers

Ya know all the things that make a sport a sport!

Im going to make a rider out of it first and am going to look for a solution for the front brake. I’m wavering between using the horrible looking setup and biting the bullet on using T3 lowers and f09 calipers/discs.

Just make sure it's not still on the original chrome bores before you even turn it over.    Those are a death sentence.
