high points 2021?

Well another year past and not entirely the best on record, too many lows to mention . I thought sharing some of last years good moments might be a good way to roll into 2022.. For me , having a really good guy, and his wife, whom I met here, make the trip up here to the north to meet face to face and get a ride or two in together was the highlight. To have a new friend is a wonderful thing ,That and knowing that a couple of the members here that had a very bad day are making positive progress towards  a full recovery is top of my lists. As much as I am tempted to bash the negatives of 2021 I won't go there because  staying positive was my new years resolution. Thank all of you who run WG and to all you members that continually brought some light into the darkest days of the past year. Looking forward to another great year here with you all!  dave

PS  forgot to mention Guzzi's leap forward with the  V100 exiting stuff for the brand

Personally I was glad to see Guzzi pull the pin on the 100 th.
I was concerned for a while that they may soldier on with some lame half baked effort that was  good enough to blow the budget but lousy enough to be a waste of time,

NGC. Getting to go dirt biking in the desert in November AND have the hills green. Also got lucky and saw a  heard of deer. Spring rides in the desert are my favorite as it is so beautiful with all the rolling green hills and wild flowers. We had some early or late rains and the desert greened up again. Just beautiful.

The high points for Wife and I was were great!

#1 going up to New England and hanging out was one of the guys here that I’d been talking to for a couple years. Also eating fresh seafood like lobster and fried clams, actually harvested hours earlier.
#2 riding the fasted motorcycle I’ve every ridden.
An Aprilia motorcycle.
#3 spending a month at the beach in the fall from October through November.
#4 Christmas of course.
And just too many others to list!

Getting another grandson that only took 965 days! WHAT? They got him when he was two days old. the mother took off then and the sperm donor, can't use the term dad, was in prison and fought the adoption. Finally after much apprehension, countless court appearances with lawyers sucking money from any chance they could the adoption is official.

Ncdan, it sounds like you had a GREAT year! I too had a great year, up in Maine for my birthday in Sept, eating lobsters and lobster rolls and a killer good meal at our favorite place in Wiscasset. And two trips on my V Strom up through the Adironcacks....my first time riding up there.....I usually go south on the BRP to Asheville, and I usually do that on my Royal Enfield 500.
And the late Sept trip to the Adirondacks was made better by my buddy from Camden Maine coming down and meeting me in Lake Luzerne and going on that tour with me. We had a blast.
And I can't forget, 2021 is really the big year as I put almost 6,000 on my first Moto Guzzi. I did get it 11/20 and did ride it a bit all Winter but it became my huge go to favorite for anything under 4 or 5 hours ride. What a fantastic engine and bike! Best of luck to us all for 2022.

2021 was a good year for me despite some of the "issues" we've had. My immediate family have managed to stay healthy and happy, and I'm thankful for that. My high point was a trip of a lifetime to Alaska with my oldest sibling, Charlie.




Also added the Yamaha Tenere 700 to the "stable" I'm really enjoying this machine!




Thank you Danny for your way of handling the day to day business of this forum! It's a huge improvement.

My highpoint of 2021 was being able to drive up to New England and visit family in person.  Visited with my elderly parents who are suffering from Alzheimer's and Dementia.  Dad is not as bad as Mom.  Caught up with my brother, two of my sisters, and an aunt.

Hauled the KLX300SM up with me and got to ride around the Lake region of NH.

A little bit of negative, I had to sell my Audace as it was to heavy and awkward for me to ride which caused a lot of anxiety when having to ride in difficult places at slow speeds. I will miss her. The good, I replaced her with a Triumph T120, a very easy bike to ride but still big and powerful enough for some serious touring, I hope. I am looking forward to some longer camping rides this year. Another plus,  I still have my V7lll Special for ripping around town and local twisty mountain roads.

I am also a boat freak, mainly older stuff. I found an older Chrysler boat wit a 115 hp motor. I hope to do some exploring on the Sacramento Delta this summer with my wife.  First boat I have had that is suitable for that adventure. Maybe our local APBA region can run more boat races this summer,  - put a major damper on it these past two years. I don't race anymore but I enjoy helping support them by manning patrol/rescue boats or doing whatever is needed.

Overall I hope to continue viewing the grass from the green side. A wish for prosperous and happy new year to all.

Too many serious low points to mention, but the good things are;

I work with some lovely people, some of whom I consider friends
Got to do 3 motorcycle trips this year  - all fun in their own ways. The 2 trips to Wales really stood out as amazing.
Sold my old Breva and bought an equally old Breva but with 45,000 less miles on the clock. Its finally been fettled into the way I like it and is superb.
Seeing my daughter grow and do well at school in her chosen subjects, and in her first ever (weekend) job. So proud of her.

Bike content only - going back to Guzzi for the first time since 1991 at the end of the summer. Took a gamble on a very under used 96 Cali 1100i (5,500 miles) and apart from some minor teething problems I think it's a good one and have really enjoyed getting a few miles under my belt (now on 7,000).

Will tour in the UK early next year to decide if it's the bike for me. It's only touring when you really find out if you like it. Have kept my totally sorted XJ900 Diversion (Seca in the USA) but one must go in 2022 (1 bike is fine for me). Sadly I doubt trips into mainland Europe are likely in 2022 - too much hassle right now but it leaves the UK to explore.

Other bike content was I had use of my son's little Suzuki SV650s for most of the summer. What a fun machine that is throw into the curves. Was very tempted to buy it but held out for a Guzzi.

Got to visit all the kids, siblings and grandkids. Spent a couple weeks on a couple different beaches. Cedar Vale , Talimena, and local riding with my geezer pals. Went to West Virginia! Met some new guitar buddies. Got to do aerobatics in a biplane. Got a new motorcycle. Mostly a good year. Lost one riding buddy last week

 to the dreaded unmentionable, and another went pretty loco in his dotage.

Our high points...retiring and moving to Colorado. Blessed to have my daughter and granddaughter following us here. Laurie and I enjoy the retired life.

After her being a Vet receptionist for 20+ years and putting up with the customers ...most nice but some not....and me 20 years Navy then driving truck for 30+ years delivering groceries and getting up at o dark thirty every morning...we are happy to be able to enjoy our new home and our new lifestyle.

2020 was a nightmare for me (the virus being a non factor for me anyway) so 2021 just had to be better and it was. Highlights are riding the most miles ever, the previous best was set in 2020 (10,000 bitter miles) and married a wonderful lady who shares our passion for riding. While she didn’t ride all the time she rode over 8k miles in her first year and loves it!

- Recovering from - and pneumonia
- Riding to / attending the Guzzi National rally in NH
- Jersey shore vacation with my wife, children and grandchildren
- Day-long rides around W Jersey and NE Pa

This is a pic from December 31st.  It's the first time that I could take my wife for a ride, since the crash in mid July. 

I think that she was scared ****less - and happy, all at the same time. 

It took a lot of courage, but - she DID get back on a motorcycle.

Reaching 85 (age, not IQ), wife of 49 years doing well health-wise, admitting after 5 Guzzi-less years that I probably can manage the weight of a small block and had the good fortune to be offered John Hemenway's immaculate, 13K mile, heavily-upgraded 2004 Breva 750, which I ride twice a month for 50-130 miles at a time.  (haven't dropped it, yet)
