Sorry, Must be one of those "Ozark" terms...   It is the root of a plant that grows straight down, making the plant difficult to pull out of the ground...

Ahh Winter, when the perennial battle between shoveler and snowplow truck resumes. So far only 12" here but they say way more to come.

In regions that do not get much snow, The Weather Reporters stir up panic.  The Stores and fuel stops get backed up. These event seldom last more than 36 hours.  How do people in areas of the Country that get regular snow accumulations react to snow and additional snow falls?  Do You all go about life like normal, or does everyone panic like it is the end of the world?  Asking for a Friend.

It drives me nuts they have to name all the storms talk about them for days on end issue winter weather advisories it’s winter ❄️, it’s supposed to snow and be cold, I think everyone in my neck of the woods is well used to it by now if you watch the weather on tv you swear the worlds coming to an end.  JUST MY RANT !!!

Growing up in NE Ohio with it's regular lake effect snow we would always go out in the storm in one or another's VW bug and do doughnuts in the school parking lot. Usually the roads were sparsely inhabited so it seemed relatively safe, at least for a 17year old high school kid.
