I always thought the T160s were beautiful bikes.

They can be money pits, though.

Apparently the new buyer will be getting the "Money Pit" portion
of the program out of the way first thing!

Then again, one could just spend the money and buy a *NEW* 2022 Triumph Trident 660...with a warranty....but it is just not the same as the original beast...   :thumb: :boozing:

I'd take a new one over an old one any day and I have an old one. Trying to synch 3 carbs, let alone the points, and I won't even mention the ridiculous fun of trying to compress the rings on three pistons to get them in the three barrels at the same time. Worse thing I ever did was upgrade from a Bonneville to a Trident. Things been a pain in the ass with the constant issues this one seems to have. Fix one thing and two things break.

I believe all of this...     I often "pine and lust" for a vintage Meriden Triumph...and then I look at the 2022 Bonneville Black and say to myself...this would be a more practical bike overall... :thumb: :boozing:  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

I got a 2022 T120 in November. I replaced my Audace, which was getting too heavy and awkward. MG just doesn't make anything to fit my needs at the moment. The Bonneville is a really nice handling bike with an incredibly smooth engine. I miss a driveshaft though. Cleaning and lubing a chain is a pain in the butt.

Most of the snow had melted by the time this photo was taken.  We got hammered in December but completely dry in January. JJ this an hour and a half west of Susanville. You were there, I saw you.

Yes, I remember...The High Sierra's!  Beautiful area!  That was a fun trip / rally for my buddy Mike and I...We rode 1,750 miles round trip from Sedona!  Stayed overnight at the historic MIZPAH Hotel in Tonopah going and coming.

That is in incredible condition... has had a great deal of restoration work done, extensive engine work etc.  Wow.  Probably well sorted by the looks.

The VIN is an early Trident also, my spare T-160 engine is number 00275.

Cheers,
Rob

If you are looking to buy a well-sorted Trident this would be one to buy. The seller, Jerry Ligget, is a well-known triple builder. It appears he has gone through the motor, bottom to top, which is an expensive operation. He rebuilt my BSA R3 motor a few years ago and it was costly, but it runs well which is what really matters. His work on triples is likely some of the best you can find in the states.

So buy this one and the difficult stuff is done. It will likely outlast most of us. Just ride and enjoy!

I dunno, a bit of a contrived value in my estimation.  There were fewer than 7300 of these T-160 built for worldwide distribution in 1975 and this one had a perfect resto and beautiful but still...  that is a lot of cash.

Best,
Rob

I learned a lesson about new vs. old yesterday.  I rode a 1970 Ambo that is in excellent running order.  That thing just made me grin like a fool.  Brakes are almost non existent, power is really just ok.  Paint is cracked and crazed, no shiny chrome.  Any new bike would smash this thing in any catagory of performance you care to name.  On my way out, I sat on a new V7 and that bike felt fine, you could tell it would be incredibly competent for almost anything you want to do, but it didn't make me grin like a fool.

Well...if one has about $15,000 burning a hole in one's pocket, and you want a cool, fun, classic, vintage, or modern motorcycle, there are a lot of options on BaT and other places... :thumb: :boozing:
