1998 EV battery recommendations
« on: February 07, 2022, 11:11:12 AM »
The Odyssey PC925L died over winter. The bike, when new, came with this brand and type.  Usually lasts 9-10 years in my EV and Quota so can’t complain about longevity.  Added a new PC 925L to my Amazon shopping list that was listed at $180.00. The next day when I was ready to place my order it wasn’t in my shopping cart. It’s now $220.00.

So.. my riding days are over but I need a good reliable battery to sell the bike this spring. Any recommendations?

I have repeatedly used the WestCo AGM from EuroMotoElectrics in Colorado.   I think produced by Panasonic.  Longevity is the idea.  I've also used MotoBatt.  Convenient in that it has double set of terminals. Yes, they are getting pricey, but the convenience of front door delivery and 10 years of service offset that.

This fits my '04 with it standing up, not on it's side. Very close to the tool tray though. Check the measurements for it to see if it will work for you.

No idea how long it will last. I've had it about 8 months and so far so good. I also have this brand in my BMW, about the same age.

Go with the Big Crank made by East Penn Mfg.  Same battery used in the Harley Touring models. I use this size in my 98 V11EV.

If you are going to sell the bike this year just go with any normal AGM battery, leave it for the new owner to upgrade as he feels fit.

You can also use a lawnmower battery without you tool tray.

AGM batteries are over rated. My 40 buck sealed garden tractor batteries lasted at least 5 years. Thats all I used in my EV and LeMans for decades.
