I wouldn’t lift a finger to save any of them. I’d be on the phone with my insurance agent to file a claim.

I have no  precious bikes. I gave them away or sold them.  I would save the DR650 without a doubt. And I might throw some cats in....

I have a Suzuki Bandit that I've ridden 82k miles.  An EV.  A Greenie V11 Sport.  And my '17 Ducati 939 Supersport.

It's a tough choice between the Greenie and the Duc.  The Greenie is beautiful and rare, perhaps irreplaceable.  The Duc is just a fantastic bike -my favorite- but I could find another.   I'd feel bad to see the Greenie burn but it's not my fault, Huzo.   :boxing:

My bevel SS is closest to the garage door for a reason, and my bikes are stored in two secure locations for a reason.  I don’t carry fire or theft insurance on any of the 10 bikes and never will. I would never lose all of them and can afford to lose half of them… but will very likely never do so.

My truck and lawnmower  Bikes are insured.  Truck is needed more than bikes.

Response time from local volunteers is 15 minutes.  I worry more about tornado.

Garage Is pretty fire resistant.

Flamable liquid is the biggest threat.  I keep a few large blankets on bikes to use as fire blankets. Keep all flammable liquid in metal cabinet when not in use or outside.

MY 07 Vintage classic caught fire in my garage. :embarrassed: I had 5 other bikes in the garage at the time. I was able to put it out with a garden hose!  First question the insurance company asked is was it for sale? I assumed  some people will torch them if they can not sell them? I sent pictures of my burns (I was sitting on the bike at the time) and they paid the claim. Only three for sale in the country at the time, all at dealers so I actually made money selling a Guzzi!!!   My friends got me this T shirt........

G'day Huzo
I don't know what happened to my reply there, seems to have disappeared into the ether!
Anywho, let me know when you're coming down this way mate.
Be good to say hello eh
Cheers Guzzler

This has happened to me. At first I thought Dan was deleting my posts.
What happened to me is when you click on ‘post’ and others have already posted in the meantime a message will pop up saying there are other replies forcing you to select ‘post’ a second time. Because of the embedded ads that notification might be below your screen and you think the post took.

If you don’t scroll down, and instead click on unread posts you will never know until you go back into that thread to find your post is missing.   This happens with active threads and is easier to miss if using your phone on the forum.

I only had one bike and couldn't get it out. My daughter parked her car in front of the door and locked it. She had been told countless times not to park there. I don't even take the keys out of my truck. Four years ago.

Bought new by my long-deceased friend Jay Paine in my hometown and still with the Supertrapp and K&N filter he installed the day he bought it.

Save the Ariel - it's not the prettiest or most valuable, but I've had it almost 20 years and it's got the best stories.

For Huzo's revised puzzle:  Save the Brough - and I'd ride it!  (until something broke then so would I!)

It is so sad to see the burned bikes but what a tragedy for KK to lose your home!  Fortunately my garage is not attached.  But I still worry about fire.

Not to hijack the thread, but Tusayan, we have an old guy in our club that had his storage unit broken into and 5 bikes stolen.  He got 4 back, but the 5th was the garden gate Manx he had ridden at Daytona in 1961!  It was stolen about 25 years ago and last year it showed up on craigslist or ebay.  It was disassembled and the front of the frame was cut off and missing.  He got the cops involved and they made a lazy phone call and it disappeared again.  It is probably still in western Washington.  That's definitely the bike he would rescue if he could.

Sorry to hear about that, property crime is not a happy thing.  I don’t think I’d put a Garden Gate Manx in a storage unit. In my own case, if they take (half) the bikes they’ll also get to my airplane, which is worth a similar amount. Access will involve either flying in or getting through the security gate, then confronting 24 hr staff, then breaking in. There were some break-ins there 15-20 years ago but the thieves had to act quickly and so they stole tools for quick cash.  Since then the guard has been more active, at least that’s what I’m told.

Sad story SED.  What a shame that the Manx was stolen and still around after 25 years.  It must be maddening to know that.

It pains me to say it, but I think I'd rather let the V7 burn and save the Puch MS 50.
That little 50cc is irreplacable.

it's also a lot easier to save thanks to like 50kg 'weight' ;)

Cheers,

Title says "garage", Sorry Guzzi-Guys but the Morini gets saved first. OP's text says "Shed", in which cast my CT-70 is first to safety.

To Huzo’s question, I’d save the Brough.  I can’t help thinking of the Monza as his bike and not mine.

Actually that’d be pyro.
The two terms “garage” and “shed” were both chosen, because they mean different things in the US and Australia.

We actually had something like that happen here with a "piro." I moved the Guzzi's, 4-wheeler, and a lot of tools from the garage (shed) workshop into the storage area under the house, since the workshop is closer to the road and the dogs are next to the house. But they caught the guy setting fires, so then I had to move it all back. Can't imagine leaving it up to the insurance for replacement. Read about it here...

I’ll change it just a little.

The bikes you own are..
A fully road registered MGS 01...absolute horn.

A Brough Superior...Absolute $$$

A V50 Monza (bought brand new when you met your wife and couldn’t afford a car, now your Grandaughter is getting her licence so she can ride it)...absolute heartfelt attraction.

A BMW 1600 cc Six...absolute comfort.

And remember, you then have to stand there and watch the others burn..
This change up has thrown off quite a few respondents. :boozing:

Priority to safety:

Daughter
Wife
Dog
Cat
Myself

Like some others motorcycles are not worth the risk. Stand back in safety and wait for the fire department to arrive and do their thing while singing the Bloodhound Gang Fire Water Burn.

Great post.

Here's the main part of the article. We live near 10 mile on the Hot Springs RD...

Alaska State Troopers arrested a 17-year-old Thursday in connection with a string of arson fires in Two Rivers.

"Jamison Gallion, 17, is charged with two counts of arson I, five counts of arson II, four counts of burglary II, as well as seven counts of criminal mischief, according to court documents. The arson I charges will automatically waive Gallion to adult status, and he will be tried as an adult, a trooper dispatch stated. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.

Since mid-May, 11 structures have burned in Two Rivers with eight of them being confirmed arson. The fires have set the community on edge as residents sought to protect their homes from the unknown arsonist who seemed to strike at random.

According to the trooper dispatch, Gallion was identified as a person of interest after surveillance footage showed him filling a fuel container at Chena Hot Springs Gas around 11 p.m. Aug. 22, approximately an hour before Two Rivers Lodge was set ablaze.

“After search warrants were obtained for Gallion’s house, electronics and vehicle, additional digital and physical evidence was uncovered by investigators,” according to the trooper report.

The investigation revealed that Gallion was present at the commercial fire near Mile 10 of Chena Hot Springs Road on Aug. 18 and called 911 around 2 a.m. to report the fire, according to charging documents. He reportedly provided the name “Matthew” to 911 dispatch.

The following day, a witness reported seeing Gallion at the scene of a residential fire near Mile 11 of Chena Hot Springs Road. He reportedly told the witness that he arrived on scene approximately 10 minutes after the fire began on his way to work, according to charging documents. The witness reported the incident to troopers..."
