Grab your saw, fiberglass & cloth, bondo and chicken wire to form in the hole to stick the fiberglass to on both sides.  Painted with a Duplicolor black "rattle can" and "rattle can" clear.  I wanted them to clear the turn signals. I used adhesive backed, chrome/plastic auto trim to replace the factory riveted aluminum trim.  I glassed in the center seam which was weakened by age. I found new hinge and latch hardware. Info on Greg Benders site. Not sure if the sources are still around

Thanks JU, I remember what you did.  I actually modified a set myself after seeing yours, but then never used them. Wanted to show another friend how they looked in your finished photo.
