Thanks for sharing. I, too, am completely smitten with the 1100 Breva and find the remark "... 20 mph over..." completely accurate. The Breva is too easy to ride fast and confidently that I consciously have to not snicker up a gear when I want just to keep my speed down. In my humble opinion the Breva is the most under appreciated CARC if not the most under appreciated Moto Guzzi of all time.

The Cafe Sport has sneaky speed. Ridin by feel and sound, I have to drop back a gear to stay below the ton. The small blocks cannot compare, IMO.

I loved my Breva 1100 so much, when I was looking to add a 2nd bike to my garage, I seriously thought about getting a 2nd Breva 1100. Unfortunately, injuries, arthritis and maybe an evil spell or two cast on me made the Breva too painful for me to ride. I currently have a couple of Aprilia'a: a 750 Shiver and a Caponord 1200 Rally. They are both comfortable for me, a real blast and handle well. But...no shaft drive and they don't have that special something that gets sprinkled into big block Guzzi's.

2007 1100 BREVA, I rode this bike for an Iron Butt BBG totally stock, seat and all. Rode Canada to Mexico in 32 hours. This is a mile eater. Harley lovin brother in law rode it here in the Ozarks and was blown away with every aspect of the bike. Damn this is a great machine, it sets next to 3 other Guzzis in the shed.

Recently test rode a 2012 Norge back to back with a similar Vintage Caponord, same point of view.  The Caponord was such a pleasant riding position and with the extended screen better wind protection than the Norge. Power and handling blew the Norge away.  I know ADV versus Sports tourer but don't overlook the Aprilia I'm 6 feet 66 and shrinking :)....

The guy likes to hear himself talk, more than actually make any sense.    He is not saying, he finds himself riding 20 over, but exactly the opposite!   He should try riding it fast, they love that.   And he says that after riding a pos claped out chopper??   Makes no sense.

 Some years ago in the parking lot of Atlas Cycle Sales in Tulsa there was this couple awaiting the shop to finish prepping a slightly used California . What was interesting , the guy had a couple of very visible HD tatoos , and both were wearing leather jackets with MoCo patches . They lived in Wichita , had been riding HDs for years , he said at one time as far as he was concerned they were the only motorcycle worth owning . Then a buddy let him ride his Guzzi , he said half way around the first cloverleaf he was hooked . Went home , told the wife to put an ad in the paper he was selling his Harley , then started calling dealers . Atlas had what he wanted in a low mileage used bike, Atlas even offered him something fair in trade , so they simply rode down and swapped .

Non Harley people tend to see all Harleys as one bike.  It would be like saying Kawasaki bikes are uncomfortable.  The Harley Touring bikes are some of the most comfortable motorcycles I have ever ridden, and also handle the curves better than many of their owners are willing to experience.

  Don't do it  . Been way too easy to put them all in some crazy category , BUT , some are kinda nice to ride and any dealership
tends to have ride days . Try a few and then get back on yours and you'll know better which is the best for you .  Peter

I started riding Harleys (after some JAPanInc. beaters) when I was surrounded by BMWs at work.

I eventually owned both Harleys and BMWs.

Then I found Guzzi and discovered it was sorta a blend of the best of both worlds.

I limit myself to one woman, WHY on earth would I limit myself to one bike or one brand?!?

I even enjoy the occasional one-day stand with our Duc for variety, but I'd never have bought it for myself and would have sold it long ago if it wasn't the equivalent of the wife's pool boy.

I won't fault you for liking something different. Hell, it would be boring if we all liked the same thing.

And I get how Harleys are sometimes so ubiquitous it gets old fast (or how some of the owners are ridiculous). So I even get why people are constantly overcompensating to find reasons to dislike them.

But I still love them. I don't love loud pipes, or fake bad-asses, but I can find those on all brands, even Guzzis.

I like the machines themselves for what they ARE as much as for what they ARE NOT (and let's be real, I DON'T like EVERY Guzzi, never mind every Harley and I have to look hard these days to find something I like from most other brands, but I can usually find something*).

I guess I'm saying like what you want to like, just don't be douchey about it.
