Replacement Turn signals? Breva 1100 UPDated
« on: March 19, 2022, 01:26:23 PM »
after washing, I noticed one of my turn signal stalks was broken.  After checking the rest, it seems all of them are about to fail.  The plastic is cracking, all along the stems.

So anyone ran across another solution other than buying new turn signals, I checked and they run about 40 ea.

I ran across this
https://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=90563.0

not sure if I want to modify it to make it work, but barring a better solution, that is probably what I will end up doing, all 4 stems are around 45.

Seems like a decent work around for the budget minded.
I will have to go and check mine for deterioration.

This is an ongoing  problem for these type of turn signals on all the moto guzzi models.
I personally had to rebuild all four on my 02 Stone.

It would be great if someone who can do the computer replicating parts,  make these rubber parts for the turn signals from a durable nylon type material.
I’d be in line to purchase four.

I wish there was a close Aprilia dealer close by.  Looking through the AF1 website, looks like a couple of the Aprilia turn signals look very similar.  I would really like to compare them before I ordered them.  they are pretty cheap, 15.00 ea.

I might just go ahead and order one to see if they will work.

I've printed four for my brothers Cali. I'm not sure about robustness or UV stability but as he's in North Queensland there's lots of rough roads and sunlight to test them out.
If they're any good I'll post

Cheers

The Aprilla turn signal I received from a generous member Mayor_of_BBQ worked.  plug and play. hardest thing was getting the wind screen off and those 4 ity bitty hex screws out of the back of the dash.  the turn signal didn't have a part number, but now I know what end i need to mate up with, so I will be ordering 3 new ones this week
As you can see, the stems have just dry rotted, which shouldn't have happened.  the bike is always parted in a covered location, I use vinyl protectant.  Oh well, it is what it is.

those stems look just like the ones on my Triumph Sprint. My local Triumph dealer had the stems in stock for something like $6 each. I think AF1 used to carry the stems too.

Steve,

Would it be possible to get a copy of the file you used to print the turn signal stems?

Thanks! Brian

I just replaced all four on my 07 cali last week. I was heading out recently  for a ride. I stopped in for gas first and the back signals were hanging by the wire. I rigged them a little with duct tape and headed back home. The fronts made about two miles. I had to rig them with zip ties. All good now! I never knew it was such a known issue. I do know you need duct tape and zip ties to ride scooters!

Hopefully someone here in the states can eventually get a 3D printer to reproduce these rubber parts with a nylon type material that will stand up to ultraviolet light and Father Time. 👍

If some could get me the STL files that were used I can have them printed out of ANY material...even have a mold made and make out of urethane. as I work for one of the largest 3d print company in the States.

Thanks, Brian

Hopefully someone who knows what a STL file is, will sound off. 🤞

What is an STL file?
Design format used for stereolithography, a rapid prototyping technology used for producing three-dimensional parts; contains a 3D design used as a master model for creating numerous prototypes.

More Information
Stereolithography is an interchange file format. It is used to save CAD files in a standard format that can be read by multiple CAD applications.
