Quota u-joint boot replacement

I was doing some spring maintenance on the Quota last weekend, and I noticed that the rubber u-joint boot has a split. How difficult/involved of a job is it? I'm confident that I can do it, and I'm pretty sure I have the tools, I'm just wondering if it's an all day job, or an hour job.

It depends on your ability. I take my time, 1/2hr off 1/2hr on. Your 1st time triple that.
Be Prepared before you start, build a stand for back of bike to sit on unless using a centerstand.
Service manual helps.

While you are in there check that the trans out put shaft and pinion nuts are tight, as well as lubing the driveshaft and wheel splines if they need it. DonG

First time in there it took me an afternoon on an EV. However I also replaced the carrier bearing since I was in there. I'm not fast and probably farted around some.
Depending on mileage and condition it's good time to inspect/replace carrier bearing and U-joint if needed. If you need some info check here:

Worked on it this weekend. Took about 10 hours total. Took my time. Did the swing arm bearings and the carrier bearing. The splines were totally dry and the shaft was sticking in the U-joint. I was able to get it out, cleaned off and fully lubed before putting the assembly back together. The hardest thing was getting the clamp on the transmission side of the rubber boot back on. I had to walk away and come back to it in the morning, then it went on, first try.
