You have to go back over 50 years, to a time where Kaw wanted to get into bigger bikes.  To do that, they licensed-built a Brit bike, the BSA A50, which they badged as the "W1."  So, Kawasaki had a history of badging bikes with the "W."  If you want more history, I'd suggest Googling.

so glad you are out and about but may need snow tires if this f&$king weather doesn't get any better.   I mean snow today - this is something we need to blame someone on.   At the risk of being booted can we blame some political a--hole for this or just the big guy getting even....

Don't get me started, Mark!  The snow today really sucked.  We'd probably blame different guys, but what the hell, we can't even agree on bikes, much less politics.  Let's dump it on the big guy ....... !

When this was my stable of bikes, I so much wanted to add a W800, but they weren't available in the states at the time.

If I had, I might have never ventured into the odd ball at the left end of the photo.  That was the catalyst that had me wander around to other brands then the ole reliable Japanese brands.

Lets hope something does its magic.

Wow .... 10 years this summer since I made the fly and ride from Hudson Ohio to Dahlonega GA to pick up the lovely Tenni Green 8vSE Griso.  That bike was a real hot rod.  Hope all is well with you, Steve!

Fine Bob, semi-retired. If I had to own a newer bike it'd be a Griso.

Best ride was today!  Sunday temps were pushing 80f.

I rode no more than 140 miles, but all good.  Not like my old rides south of here, but north into Ohio wine country.

The little W800  was superb ...... not a powerhouse at all, but she must be like the Miata of motorcycles ..... simply punches above its weight.

I initially thought the bike was so down on power that I'd not get used to it.  Wrong!  The little Kaw W800 is simply 1960 all rolled into a bike that meets 2022 Euro5 specs, but still feels like "suddenly it's 1960."

I'm liking it!  Once she hits 4k, it's about time to shift, until a few more break-in miles!

NGC....

Yep, I took advantage of the pleasantly surprising weather, Saturday I rode down to the Harrison State Forest and camped, came back yesterday and cut the lawn for the first time this season.  It was a beautiful weekend and was great to get out.  Glad you had a good one!

Art, I think I may have fished the lake at Harrison State Forest several years ago.  I pulled their site up on the internet.  Comments about the facility were really positive.

While you headed west, I rode north of home into Ohio wine country where the Harpersfield Covered Bridge is located.  They will begin disassembly on the bridge soon (according to a local) to clean and treat the iron portions, will remove and salvage as much of the old wood as possible, widen it, and increase load capacity.  Sounds like a worthwhile project.
