GL1800 foot pegs for V7III
« on: April 16, 2022, 09:30:35 AM »
HI, someone on here suggested GL1800 foot pegs as replacements for the V7III to lower the peg height by 1/2" or so. Any particular year foot rests? I am having little luck finding a proper used pair on Ebay but did find these made in China pegs.........which would pain me to purchase......... I tried a parts list on line thing and Honda sells these in parts, screws, brackets, pegs, rubber covers, washers.......a bit absurd but maybe I have to go that way. I like the Knightdesign ones but they only make the 1" drop ones with metal surface and I do prefer the rubber covers to damp vibrations. And the SW Motech ones look good but they are a bit pricey....but maybe that is the way to go? Advice? Thanks
Scott

I have the cheap china G W units on my v85. They are cheap and the rubber will wear out in 10-15000 miles. I have SW on a Versys 650. Very nice and they have two mounting holes stock and I think one inch lower.

I have the cheap China Goldwing pegs on my Stornello and very pleased with them. You can buy new rubbers for them if they wear out. I would not recommend them for off road off the seat stuff but fine for road  riding. The extra length gives some foot  clearance with the Arrow exhaust on the  Stornello too.

I don't know what year GW pegs fit or give you the lowered position you want, but I 'd suggest a Honda dealership.  A lot of guys pull off the old pegs and put in floorboards and the old foot pegs are garbage - but too good to throw away.  I got a pair from an independent mechanic who worked on GW's for another Honda of mine for $20.  The GW pegs are wider than pegs on Honda's other bikes and are more comfortable..

I got a gently used set off a 2018 Goldwing for my V85 ($30). Perfect fit though I did need new springs (another $7 or $8)

I checked with SW Motech about their offerings for the V7III and they said they had none...........Odd since AF1 Racing shows that the Evo pegs fit.
I called this to Motechs attn and they said AF1 obviously knows better than they themselves know!
I just ordered the last pair AF1 had in stock.....can't wait!
BTW, Motech contacted AF1 to confirm and got back to me immediately........ good, quick customer service and they learned something too.

These are the pegs I've used. Have had them on the Norge and V7 Stornello.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/264307636081?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1HttcPsV1Q7OiIxSeDMaJWQ73&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=264307636081&targetid=1644837435243&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=9010416&poi=&campaignid=16743749222&mkgroupid=138744546207&rlsatarget=pla-1644837435243&abcId=9300842&merchantid=101680473&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmPSSBhCNARIsAH3cYgZ5kSn6_cYLBE14xhYXInrbPhIoZEsaQoU2SYuiBulVDhLyMP-LaYsaAtCeEALw_wcB

They work great, give about 1" of drop, are wide and solid and fit right on at the correct angle.

One thing to note is you either need to order normal sport bike peg springs or drill a hole and put a small set screw on the inner edge of the peg
to catch the stock spring which has a short arm on one side.

The pegs Bulldog referenced are what I had on my Norge and they worked great. But as was also mentioned, you need to go to the Honda shop and order new springs.

Follow up: I did get the SW Motech EVO pegs from AF1 Racing, but they are going back. They DO provide 15mm of adjustment range, but it is approx 15mm ABOVE the standard pegs, adjustable down to
the standard height. For what it is worth, they are also extremely heavy, though not important to me on this bike.

I've had these Slingshot Racing Adjustable Pegs on a Nevada, V7 II, and now my V7 850:

Plenty grippy, I don't miss the rubber covers in the least.
