Bar end weight fitting

I've got some new handlebars for my Roamer and need to get some new bar end weights,  as they haven't come plugged and tapped  so the existing ones won't fit.

Does it matter if the replacements are rubber mounted or via an expansion bolt type fitting

If you're asking about the security and longevity of bar-end weights mounted with a rubber expansion-type plug, then they've been fine for me.

The attached pic is of one very heavy set ( at left) I used over 2 (maybe 3) bikes over at least 15 years. No issues with loosening. I used low-strength Loctite once but didn't bother after that. I'd check tightness once or twice during the season .

On my 03 EV I also filled the bars with #9 birdshot, that helped more that the large heavy end weights did, although both are necessary to keep the buzz down.

I actually recently purchased a new handlebar that’s hollow and was wondering the same thing. I ended up buying some dual-sport expansion plugs, and was curious if there’s a better solution ‘ brand of these things.

Crossman BB’s are super cheap and come with a flip top spout

DS what are the dual sport expansion plugs?

I've found some bar end weights with metal expanding mounts with the same thread as the V9 that I could canabilise,  but your suggestion might be better
