OK, fixed, two problems. The previous owner fitted 30 amp strip fuses, which I have checked on numerous occasions, 12.8v or more either side, but looking closely the connector on the loom side looked slightly swollen, looked closer, it appeared it had been hot, slight discolouration of the insulation, checked and checked again, 12.8v either side. Stripped the heat shrink off the connector and it was apparent it had been overheating, , put a load on it and it started getting hot, bad solder joint. Stripped cleaned and re soldered and I had power to the dash. Next thing was no starter button, swapped relays around it started. Went for a ride, warning triangle came up, sure as fate, switched the engine off and it wouldn't, respond to the start button. Had a close look at the relay connection , when I pushed in the relay to the plastic connector it had displaced on of the metal connectors, you could just see it poking out of the plastic, it was sometimes making the circuit, sometimes not. Pushed it home with a screwdriver. All is well, until the next wiring problem, Luigi and his electrics!.I hope this might shed light for anyone with a similar problem. Alan.
