LED headlight bulb Convert
« on: August 28, 2022, 08:15:31 PM »
Looking for recommendations on an LED bulb for my stock Convert headlight.

I’ve read all the older threads but the bulbs recommended are out of stock…does anyone have experience with a bulb currently available?  Thanks.

I bought the Jeep 7" LED headlights on e-bay, two for $44. Drop in plug and play, multiple options. Decent coverage, and the Ones with halo are nice as well

I don't know this answer myself.  I converted my 87 SPII to an LED headlamp.  I had trouble because at that time Guzzi was using an odd style base in the reflector housing.  Regular LED bulbs would not fit.  I found a guy in Canada selling a 3D printed adapter to make the bulbs fit.  My story is in the archives somewhere.  YMMV.

Me too.  First on my California 1400 Customs (x2) and then when I bought an Indian Chief.  This was the most noticeable improvement. It has the halo adaptive function, but I'm yet to observe it in action.

I've had a JW Speaker LED sealed beam in my Convert since 2018 and it works well.

Jumpmaster has this one in his Eldo and I actually like it better.

Yes, my favorite LED headlight bulb for in H4 reflectors is no longer available on Amazon. <sigh> I used this one in my MZ Skorpion and it seems to work well.

If anyone needs an adapter like the one Patrick referenced, I have 3 of them that I won't be using.

I run one of these in my California Stone and had one in my old Valkyrie. Beam pattern is good. Brightness is good. There is an acceptable but not huge difference between high and low beams. Price is great. Had to trim just a little off one tab using a dremel to get it into the Hionda.  I have been happy and will install one in any future bike I might acquire. https://www.amazon.com/AUXITO-Headlight-Motorcycle-Light-6000K/dp/B092SHMWQZ/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=Led+Motorcycle+Headlight&qid=1661788973&sr=8-5

Charlie, can you articulate why you like the second one better? Would either fit inside the chrome ring on the T3's shell?

Last time I replaced the light in my t3 a sealed beam light from Autozone specced for some kind of GM and it fit perfectly. That wasn't that many years ago, I'd be surprised if they aren't available any longer. If you want LED you should get LED but I don't think it's accurate to say that appropriate sealed beam replacements aren't available. But I could be wrong too!

I like the way the Grote unit looks better - my JW Speaker looks a bit "modern".

There are two rings with the sealed beam sandwich in between them, held together by four small flat-head screws. The rim of the JW Speaker unit was just a bit thicker than the halogen sealed beam it replaced. I had to slightly ovalize the the screw holes in the outer ring, otherwise it fit well.

Yes, the H6024 halogen sealed beam is still available, I don't see where anyone wrote that they weren't. When guzzifan wrote "I’ve read all the older threads but the bulbs recommended are out of stock", he meant that the LEDs recommended in the past are out of stock.

Don't know if a Convert has a unique bulb, but if they got an application, go with a Cyclops LED. On the recommendation of a trusted wrench from Seattle, I installed a pair of "Ultras" [H4s] on my Stelvio NTX. I am SOLD. No need to re-aim the headlights. And I couldn't out drive them at 120MPH. I've switched out bulbs in my W650 and Quota.

They seem to have a rather large heat-sink and may not fit into the Convert headlight shell.

This could be another option:
https://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Headlight-Degree-Upgraded-Headlamp/dp/B08NTGHB6X/ref=sr_1_9?crid=G2QFPJ0SABIV&keywords=LED+H4+bulb&qid=1661895448&sprefix=led+h4+bulb%2Caps%2C112&sr=8-9

This is a 43T base bulb; however, if anyone else has not discovered it yet, the 45T bas (large flange) of the original 40/45W incandescent type bulb that came on vintage Guzzis, can be forced off the old bulb, with some finger force applied while the bulb is standing on its terminals. That flange, now becomes an adapter, and is reinserted in the headlight reflector; the new 43T bulb flange will fit inside of it and can be secured with the original spring clip.

Just noticed this thread.  For several years I have been using the Cyclops H-4 LED upgrade bulbs with no problems.  I currently have 2 or 3 bikes with them including my Nuovo Falcone pictured in a concurrent thread. Apparently their latest version is currently in stock.
