My son gave me a big Ninja air fryer. Never had one before so nothing to compare it to. Also works like an over and 4-5 other cooking settings. Works great and we like it and use it daily.

Just finished some air fried cheese sticks.  Delicious.  We have a Ninja and it works good.  I can't imagine there is much difference from other brands.

I have the Ninja Grill, the thing is brilliant. I THINK it is the same as an airfyer, but has a grill insert that gives sear marks.

Why not ask on a cooking site....... Here you can "normally" trust what people have to say. A cooking site, unless you know it, may be filled with a bunch of BS.

My neighbor swears by their Phillips. They have tried several over the years and said nothing quite compares. I wish could convince my hubby to try one, but he isn't parting with his Breville deep fryer.

As a somewhat naive party to Betty Crocker-ish countertop devices (aka a former executive chef, culinary educator,  etc…) look at cfm of fans and BTUs of the oven and make your decision.  An air fryer is simply a countertop convection oven, which means it has a fan that moves the air to aid in thermal transfer & evacuation of evaporated water to crisp the surface of cooked product.  The various models work to various degrees,  but are all limited in performance by their diminutive size and limited thermal capacity.  If you only need a token amount of water evaporated & surface crisped, they’ll do just fine..

Simply adding a silicone mat to a baking sheet in a normal 220V non-convection kitchen oven, which probably will have way more BTU-capacity than a countertop device, may do just as much to crisp your goodies than a little 110V countertop device.  It simply has more performance potential.  Lots cheaper to try, too (guzzi content).

Of course, you could always do like we did and just buy a new kitchen stove that has convection capacity.  Then it will crisp your bacon or French fries or fresh bread or anything else at will, especially with silicone mats on your baking sheets. You’ll save counter or cupboard space and enjoy much better & much more fat-free crispy food.

Rant over.

Man, now I want to make some oven French fries…..

Wife bought me a Ninja Air Fryer/grill multi-tasker and it works great. Pretty much only use it winter. No complaints. Seems like Ninja is the leader among this group.

The other question for the inquiring/enquiring mind is do they use less juice than a typical oven or is it less because they are smaller

Air-Fryers are great, especially if you are only cooking for 2

They are all just toaster ovens with a fan inside, BUT:
they require no pre-heating
most home cooks dont have a convection oven
they dont heat up the whole house like roasting at 400deg in the oven
cook MUCH faster vs. non convection oven (ie: roast brussels sprouts in 8-9 min instead of 25min)

lastly they are less likely to overcook your food while reaching a crispy exterior

Buy any one you like. I would avoid the no name chinese ones off Amazon, we had one of those (bought it b/c 2-year warranty) and when it crapped out after a year, the company was defunct and could not get a replacement.  Anything like black & decker/Ninja/any established brand should treat you just fine

Had a Ninja. Did some things well but some things not so much. Used it less than 20 times before it started flipping the breaker every time we tried to use it. Not really impressed.

Thanks for the info! Our first home had a convection double-oven with a bun warmer drawer. When we moved, we purchased a convection toaster oven pick up the slack for the single standard we have now.

Our current gas oven has a convection setting and it works fine.  My wife thinks she needs a air fryer because the advertising keeps telling her it has to sit on the counter.  I keep saying you already have one, you just have to use it.  I lose these battles every once in a while but I am trying to hold my ground on this one.

I've just realised that our microwave is a "combi" so has Microwave, Oven and Grill all built in

I wonder it will do everything without the need for an air fryer?

I suspect I need to find and then RTFM

Foodie here with gas in the kitchen and double convection ovens.

NOTHING does the job of my Cuisinart.  A Convection oven is nothing more than oven with fan at the rear wall to circulate hot air evenly.

The Cuisinart will crisp up left over pizza within minutes or quickly air fry crispy pork chops etc..   Heat up meat without "drying" it out.  It is the most helpful appliance in my kitchen and make my toast!  I would make do without the micro wave rather than do without my Cuisanart  upon the counter top.

Well I have RTFM so made it do some nuke/convection on a jacket spud.

About 7.5 out of 10 as skin not as crispy as required but lessons have been learnt for next time as approved by domestic management  :thumb:

Need to find the rack for the grill function to be tried out

We have a big Tefal air fryer. Holds a 2kg chicken with ease.  Same cooking time as the oven but there's literally no pre heating required. Can't recommend it enough.
