Moving towards engine reassembly on 1970 Ambo project. Bike had 17k miles, everything internal appears in pretty good shape but I am swapping from a damaged block so its been torn all the way down. First time doing this so want to get it right.
I am planning to have the machinist resize the conrods and replace/ream the bushings to match the new wristpins that came with the Gilardoni cylinder set.
The crank by my amateur measurements (will have machinist verify) is within original specs still.
The half shells currently in there have one oil hole and a groove down the center, the replacement (30062000) has no groove and two oil holes, one of which lines up with the old hole. Wanted to verify these are the correct part to use before proceeding.
Also- conrod bolts, what is the thought on to reuse or not? Are (good quality) replacements even available anywhere? I have searched the internet and gotten conflicting info, looks like some replacements aren't so hot.
If I reuse them should I use the current locking tab arrangement and original nuts or is there an upgraded method? (I have the proper DIN wave washers to replace the locking tabs in the other parts of the engine).
Thanks in advance,
Graham
