First Real Ride of the Year and KUDOS to a great dealer
« on: April 15, 2023, 08:17:55 PM »
Well, as I am actually in the Continental United States this weekend and it WASNT raining, and SWMBO is off with her sisters, I decided I needed wind Therapy Today.

Left out of Fort Knox and told the Tom Tom 550 to route me to a Distillery in Paris then on to Gateway Cycles in Mount Sterling KY. (the full discussion of how it did that simple task is the topic of another thread)

The dealer is Gateway Cycles in Mount Sterling KY.  Let me say straight out that it was a fantastic visit reminiscent of Moto International. Sit on what you want, ride what you want. Approachable, realistic no BS sales people and the owner who is a true Guzzi enthusiast enjoyed oogling the 1200 Sport and talking Guzzis.

Very refreshing to find a great dealer, especially for our Marque. If you are in, near, or passing through KY, this is a must visit. They had a good selection of new and used bikes, a bunch of V85's and V7/9's new and used at what look to be great prices.

Here was the Google route. I only WISH it was this clean. I almost threw the Tom Tom in the Trash. Evidently a 'twisty route' includes stupid detours into every little side road and town on the way..........

The Bourbon Take.....

The 1200 Sport Peeks in the window at all it's relatives trapped in a building (almost like a zoo)

They had a VERY interesting Shiver 900 on the floor. I thought it was a Touno at first. Too bad I want air cooled and shaft driven ;-)

I suck at stopping to take pics.... always anxious for the next set of twisties, but I did see a few things along the way.

Really needed this today, though it is obvious the 1200S needs some attention. I need to take the slack out of the throttle cables and balance the TB's wasn't as buttery smooth as normal today. Heck, may do a full service. She deserves it, hit 75K miles today. The new Mistral sounds glorious. 325 miles done....... Tomorrow if weather holds, the Convert will get some love.

Good write up, thanks for that. It’s supposed to snow here tomorrow so we have sloppy roads and a thirty degree drop in temps for a few days.

+1 for Gateway Cycles. Carl and crew bring a whole fleet of Guzzis to the KY. rally every year for people to test ride.

We talked about it. When is the KY Rally this year? I'd love to make it if possible.

Perfect write up Bulldog. I drove my daughter down to Lexington a couple of years ago for a summer internship at UK. The bartender at the Campbell House taught her how to make a mint julep while I sampled Willet 10 year rye and Weller 12.  What a great part of the country.

Bob

Sure is, and is keeping Mandello fever away

I think I'm going to give it some TLC soon. Over the winter I added a Mistral Can, and upgraded the aux lights, but its time for a valve adjust, plug change and TB balance, and need to take some slack out of the throttle cables.
