2002 Stone to 850T retro build

Hello all.  I have a good running, fairly ugly 2002 Stone.  I plan to turn it into a visual copy of my old, much-loved 850T.   I have an original fuel tank and rear fender, as well as some fiberglass reproduction side covers.   I don't have a front fender yet.  It doesn't look like an original 850T front fender would work with my 2002 forks even if I could find one.  Anyone have a recommendation for a fender that would look good?  Many thanks.

Mark at Moto Guzzi Classics has done several of these conversions. I was considering doing one and asked what front fender he used. His reply was that he cut down the original fender.

I don't see why you couldn't use T type fender bolted to the fork brace that runs across. You wouldn't need the support bars.

I used an SP1000 front fender.  They are plastic and I simply cut the attachment points off and drilled some holes (four) in the fender.  Used some rubber grommets or T-shaped bushings (sorry, don't remember) and bolted it to the fork brace with low-profile heads on the bolts.  There are four threaded holes under the brace.  Not an exact fit in terms of curve, but certainly close enough.
It certainly isn't as nice as Mark E does, but it works for me.  I don't like to paint...

Thanks for the input.  I have found a couple of original T/T3 fenders for sale but I really like the SP fender.  Nice job, by the way, JRT.  What mufflers are those, and how loud are they ?

Thats interesting, Charlie. I wonder if he was able to roll the edges after cutting, or how he finished the sides. Whatever he did, it sure looks clean. I like the on he had chrome plated.

I used one of the custom fenders Mark makes for California’s.
Only drawback is more spray off the front wheel.

Didn't ask about that detail. The chrome fender may be something he bought, not a modified original.

I dropped by Moto Guzzi Classics last year. Marks customs look really clean. If you weren't knowledgeable about Guzzi's, you'd think they were original restorations, not customs. I'm a fan.

Didnt the Cali Special Sport have a smaller front fender? Some one told me that before.

Here is mine based on a 98 EV 1100. Not as straightforward as one would think but easier when done on an external fuel pump Guzzi like the 98 EV with the P8. On that note, mine is for sale of anyone is interested...

When I was looking for a sportier front fender I finally found a jackal / titanium model spare.  It’s a bolt on proposition - not as much coverage as a t-3 fender. 
I’m still working on getting my floor boards off and pegs in place.  (When I get a chance to play again!)

I've been thinking about trying to graft a 1000 SP fairing and lowers to a V7.  I love my SP fairing, but I'd like to have the same thing in a little lighter bike with modern running gear. Seems doable at face value with a bit of bracketry and welding, but maybe I'm underestimating things.
