New to me LeMans 1000
« on: December 09, 2023, 07:03:27 PM »
Just picked this one up from my buddy (Travlr)
1991 LeMans 1000. It's pretty stock except for the exhaust and K&N filters.

Very cool.  That’s a great addition to your garage.

My memory of riding an identical one back in the day was that it was a very stable and enjoyable bike.  Getting the instruments off the forks made a difference.  Very nice.

I think we now have enough information and photographic evidence to say that "You sir have a Moto Guzzi problem!"  Treatment is available but it will cost you. I can help by removing the offending material and thereby keeping you safe from further harm.

Nice bike!

Had one. It was a great GT traveling machine..comma but (Hagen)   I hated to ride it because it was a museum piece.

I'm glad it went to you Turin.  The end of a great line of Tonti LeMans.  One of the last 17 imported.  I believe we never own beautiful things, we are just caretakers for the next owner.  You will keep it nice for history.

Very sharp Le Mans. One of 17, would make it rarer than the always sought after, 1000S.

It's the second Guzzi I've taken off of Mike's hands. I wish he didn't have such great taste in motorcycles.

1 of 17... interesting, buy I don't think it adds value. I've lusted after a lemans 1000 since they were new. Getting one of the spiffy black ones with the red frame is just icing on the cake.

What I really want to do is test it against my rennsport Cal III and my Lemans SE racebike.

I cant ride the bike very far due to a broken right thumb.

I've still got the Cafe Racer Turin.  I'm getting it ready for John Day in June.

Beautiful, Turin. 1991 Le Mans 1000 "CI" . Some say the CI stands for (sp) Carentura Integralli (integral fairing). I've heard other guesses, but this seems the most plausible to me. There's also a story that the order for the US got screwed up and all the bikes were painted with red frames and red bodywork. The easiest remedy that was acceptable was to spray the bodywork black. I had one of these for a few years and could see no evidence to support this. Anyway, great sport touring bike. Enjoy it!!

I recognize your lemans from Bike-urious. I think you wrote something on facebook too. Good stuff!

My bike has a black swingarm. I heard they assembled them from whatever they had lying around. Lot's of stories, and funny how they become fact over time.

A very nice looking bike there Turin.

Good to see the car parked outside so your plethora of Guzzis stay warm and dry.

The story I've heard is the importer wanted black ones, so they just sprayed 17 red ones and shipped them. (shrug)

I have one of the other 17, and there is visible evidence inside the main fairing that the bodywork was resprayed black at the factory.  When I bought it the seller gave me a list of names and mailing addresses of the last known owners of those 17.  I thought about sending letters to all in an effort to update the record, but to what end?
