Kev,

If you can not get the cable from Icar, OBDStar has it and may be available elsewhere. Here are 2 images of the connectors used by OBDstar. You would need the adapters for Guzzi, N004, N041 included and M048 which is not included. M048 is the one you need to connect to the dash, you remove the end cap/canbus terminator from your cable and plug M048 in and then the end cap into M048.

Dave used the red tipped one N041 to connect to the E5 OBD plug (if I understand correctly, I do not think it has the standard 3 pin on the bike???).

Your bike should have the standard 3 pin N004 for the engine ECU and the M048 connector for the MGMP cable to access the dash.

EDITED...Hope this helps,
Tom

Dave, I realize the 850 might be different from the MKIII, but did you connect to the Instrument Cluster through the main ECU diagnostic connector or did you use a different connector on the bike?

I'm assuming since mine is not connecting that I actually need an 8-pin connector to get the ICarSoft to talk to the dash through the 8-pin MGMP connector down near the battery and not the 3-pin connector for the ECU?

So did this change for the 850?

Yes, it did change for the 850, and I believe Tom's response has it covered.

Sorry I did not catch your question earlier.

BTW I just reset my riding buddy's V85TT wrench.  Now I can rest easy.  HA.

I realize I'm talking V7III here, but in case anyone is following.

I submitted a question to ICarsoft yesterday and they replied overnight asking for more info and for me to log a BIN file.

I took the opportunity to follow their instructions but also provide them with more - including the wiring diagram for the bike, the OBDstar accessory sheet, and information that others are saying (and the wiring diagram seems to make this point pretty clear) that I need to connect to the 8-pin MGMP connector to talk to the dash.

We'll see how they reply.

Hopefully I can get this sorted and help other riders in the south Jersey area.

Though it seems I'd probably be fine helping someone with a V85 or V7 850 as is.

Will continue to report back.

Yes I would think so as long as you have the latest software update installed.

I received the software update V31.51 (was V31.50)  from ICarsoft this morning.  It now works perfectly for resetting the V7-850 service wrench.

I received mine today, updated the software and got V3.50. Worked great for the V85, didn’t work on the V7. I sent them a log file. I imagine they’ll send me the same update.
